Hi
Do you find there is quite a bit of gap under the seat? Or is it just mine!
I will try and download a pic but Im not good with modern tec...
Can the catch be adjusted to pull it down or is normal?
Thank you

I have a Gen 1 and there is a lot of clearance between the frame and bottom edge of the fuel tank. I have a wire going under there secured to a zip tie anchor and there's just enough room so I'd say almost a quarter inch.
The seat fits tight though. It is supported by rubber pads that contact the frame and hold it at the proper height. The fuel tank has hooks that hold the front down tight to the fuel tank. The back of the seat should be secured by the rear seat lock which will hold it at the proper height. I have had problems with the back seat lock latch going into the lock. There are bolts that can be loosened to adjust the position of the latch. Usually, I just have to press down on the back to get it to click into the lock after the seat is installed.
If you have a Saddleman seat, it may be a bit short at the back but looks fine with the cowl on.
If you have a gap, I suspect the front is not engaged to the hooks on the fuel tank or the rear latch is not engaged to the rear lock. The middle lock has to be in or the seat would not stay on.

Very nice looking bike Rook, looks like you've done a lot to it!!
This is mine above, mines probably a bit more than 1/4" the hooks are in tank and I cant lift the middle of seat so must be ok?
Looking at yours the cover material looks quite a bit thicker so that may be the reason
The gap im referring to is between seat and side fairings sorry

I didn't notice any gap before because my seat cowl pretty much covered any gap,
1. Seat drops and locks by its own weight = Perfect fit and finish.
2. Seat needs a little push to lock = Something is in the way.
Something in the way or the lock pins don't quite line up to the holes. My OEM seat always required a little persuasion to lock in. I had to push forward and down at the same time. After the fuel tank hook holes wore in, it went on a lot easier. The Saddleman seat is the same thing all over. If a seat drops right into the lock on its own weight that is some fit and finish. You might be able to adjust the hooks on the fuel tank to make it do that but I would not bother bending on those and fatigue the metal.

...or take a file to the hook holes but a seat isn't cheap either if that gets too loose and needs to be replaced.
Anyway, making it go on easier won't make it go on any closer to the frame. That height is determined by the lock.
There is a fuse box under the seat on the RH side and the lid on that box JUST FITS under the seat. You wouldn't want it any lower.
I think I recall a couple of comments in the past about the unattractive tail fairing ridges that seem as though they should be concealed but aren't unless you use the seat cowl. I had a buddy with an 08 Atomic Silver and he said the same thing you are saying. My bike is black so it's not noticeable and I never go without the seat cowl anyway.
How about this: you order some flat black vinyl and apply it just to those ridges. Start on the outer edge. Use a heat gun to stretch and form it as you pull it over to the inside. Either that or go state to flat black spray paint. Wash it off first, don't scuff sand. Scuff sanding isn't going to make it stick a whole lot better under there anyway. If you don't like, denatured alcohol will remove it if applied in a day or two.

Thanks Rook, well thought out replies!! Yep I thought about vinyl wrap just on the edges to blend things in, so its atomic silver, you learn something every day, had a look on the internet and it seems about the same on most, will be able to sleep now, if you know what I mean..
