Lose of power?
04/18/15 7:17 AM

I have lost the power wheelie in 2nd gear. Use to go WOT around 4k and would be pulling the front by 6k to 7k now nothing. Any ideas

Traction is everything. What's the condition of the tire?

Is the engine pulling smoothly? Could possibly be clutch slippage if the RPMs seem to run ahead of where you'd normally see them. Check for brake drag. Seems dumb but make sure you didn't leave a TC mode on or power mode in L.

The has 1800 mi. The rear tier is starting to flatten out a little bit come up in first noproblem. I don't think the clutch is slipping think being the main word there. TC is off. Chain is lubed up. The motor seems to run fine. Breaks are not dragging. I'm lost here man.

To check for clutch slippage choose a private road or airstrip get in 4th or 5th around 7-7500 rpm where max torque is and accelerate hard. This is where the clutch is under real pressure, more so than trying to lift the front in 2nd and any slippage should be more obvious. If the rear tyre has gone off I would expect it to lift the front easier in 1st than 2nd. JMO

When did you do the AH2? If you just installed it I know I lost low end torque in the lower RPM'S when I put the shorty CT Meg on vs the stock exhaust anyway.

1. Check compression or chase your tail.
2. The plugs are pulled so replace them.
3. Sync the throttle bodies.
4. That's all bulletproof needs is some freshening up... say the odds.

Check compression with only 1800mi. Could plugs be bad already. And throttle body out of sync. If any of these is the problem it's going back to the dealer.

My bike will power wheelie in second even with the swing-arms extended 4.75 inches and lowered 1.25 inches. Of course for traction I use the very sticky Shinko Hookup drag radial on the rear.

You could pull your air filter and check to see if you've got a restriction.

That bike is too new to have a power problem. Check the traction control and power control settings.

How hot is it where you are today? Are you at altitude. My bike in Colorado Mountains really loses power but the corners are worth it! :)

1,800 miles is probably the best time to check your compression and make sure you write these numbers down (front of your service manual is a good spot). Even if the numbers look good, now you have a point of reference for future compression tests. If there's a big difference between cylinders you may have uncovered a major issue while the bike is still under warranty. Worst case you spent an hour of your day and recorded some great info.

The has 1800 mi. The rear tier is starting to flatten out

Slow, I do not think you are that slow. Oh look, Moe! I'm going to go right down to the dealer and show them my tire is this flat wear pattern. Whereas, I'm squeezing out more than 4k out of the OEM before I changed them out? And is this one of those, cough, internet break-ins and not a book followed break-in and how do you explain a flat spot within 2k miles? Are you going to snow me at the drive you rolling up and I check the tire wear to my break-in miles vs yours?

I don't think the clutch is slipping think being the main word there.

I don't think it's the clutch either. I think it's broken-in.

The motor seems to run fine. I'm lost here man.

If I have all those parameters in check and I still can't find jackshit, do we go back and forth you see me checking the health of the shit I beat to death? Of course you do. Would I chase my tail with all new looking plugs and air cleaners and no codes on the dash; as if there is a problem? Or do we look the fool we keep being lost in the search. Brain the drain wash you with the very first basic move and go on from there or chase your tail; home he does not suffer those fools rubbing their balls; scratching their dicks; because I am out of this thread. It says; I'm just as lost w/out comp numbers sent forward.

Hub, you are right I didn't stay under 4k but I also didn't beat the s#it out of it. Your advice is well heard and I will check compression. I will be looking at everything very closely tomorrow. Here is a pic of my tire.

Well my power is back. Took it out and tried some the things you all recommend. My clutch wasn't slipping but what I found out with some help of Cblast is that my plugs were fouled out from me riding back and forth to work. I have been riding to work as much as possible witch is 25mi one way and it is highway that is cop central. Needless to say I putt the hole way 60mph. Got out to day and rode it hard and it came back to life 2nd gear wheeling back in session and the lovely 3rd gear lift. That's for the help guys.
