Motul "Mo-Cool" Coolant
09/25/12 2:53 PM

Just installed Motul "M0-Cool" Engine coolant additive..Brock sent it to me...mfg. claims to reduce engine temperatures up to 30F. 16 oz. in the bottle filled it to the top of the radiator cap.

Wondering if anyone is using this product and if it really makes the engine run cooler...??

There's several of these coolant 'wetting agents' on the market that propose to reduce running temps. There are even synthetic coolants around that claim the same. I tried both in my XR650 that was prone to overheating in traffic and they made no difference whatsoever.

If you have a 210 degree thermostat how can a fluid lower that? These coolants will slow the heat up, when rolling again they will cool down back to normal faster than antifreeze.

I used Motul Motocool Expert in my bike for the first time this year. Seemed fine for the first 3500km but not any better that the coolant that came stock in my bike. The Motul was the worst move I ever made. I am not sure if the product was sitting on the dealers shelf too long or what, but it seemed to foam and have the opposite desired effect. I suffered coolant expulsion problems (my first thought and direction was to change the rad cap, then the thermostat, pressure tested the system, you name it i did it). I inspected the pump and impeller, set up a true flow test, check the rad for hot / cold spots. Proved my fan and temperature sensor. As a final last stone unturned..... I dumped the Motul, flushed the system and put Prestone Extreme Sport coolant in. Problem solved.

I am sure there may be some products on the market that may offer slight improvements.... but once bitten = forever shy.
I like my coolant to look, smell, and feel like the coolant I grew up with. The Motul was thin and very light in colour.

I have always used Engine Ice. Had it in my ZX14. Have it in my C14.

Reduces coolant temperature by conducting the heat to the radiator fins faster. Back when it was an unknown item, I tested carefully and got a 1 bar reduction in same same conditions just from Engine Ice.

How much Engine Ice do you put in...a pint or do the entire liquid cooling system in Engine Ice?
