Aegis ranger, That has always been an idea to buy at the best price I can find and fly there and drive the bike home. Maybe my next bike. 540 miles initial ride is awesome. Would be great to do a several state ride home.

There is a guy from NY who rides his 14 all over... has been to Alaska with it! I'm from NJ and have been to NC(461 miles) and Virginia(344 miles) on 2 separate trips and frequently take her to Maryland(175 miles)

Billy, it was a gamble since I'd never even sat on a zx14 before I bought it. That 500+ mile first day could have been miserable if the bike wasn't comfortable...

Took a 375 mile rip around Washington this last Friday with a bunch from work. Went over three passes and hit canyon river road from Yakima and Ellensburg. What an awesome ride. Roads were good and fast.

Now that I am putting my 2011 to good use, with longer day trips, I just can't get enough. Take the big girl up into the mountains of Colorado instead of suburbia and the animal is unleashed. I can't get over how forgiving and unflinchingly competent she is all around, on top of being a friggin rocket.

Yesterday was up I70, Loveland pass, 91 to Leadville, Independence pass, back via 91 again, all timed to skip traffic. I was so wired when I got home I couldn't sleep.

I could see taking her up to the Pacific Northwest on a longer trip when possible, maybe next summer.

I have the Airhawk R.

Ive taken mine to and from California from Jersey twice this year. Performed flawless with no problems or brake downs.

Teh ZX14 is my long distance bike. I recently purchased an old stock new 2013 and after putting 1000 miles on it, I did an IBA BBG1500.. The only real problem was teh seat. Ordered some beads to try first. We will see if those help and if not then I will try a different seat arrangement.

I have a mine 2 day road trip planned that I hope to fit in sometime this fall. I usually keep my days at 400 or less miles.

chrly, Let us know how the beads work. I have seen them on bikes before and wonder if they are good to go.

Going on a 1200 mile 3 day ride tomorrow. We do this ride every year. 12 of us this year but we usually try to keep it at 8-10 riders.
We do a big loop around the northwest starting in western Washington. Fun areas from Clarkson down to Enterprise Oregon where we spend the first night. Awesome road up out of Clarkson on hwy 129. Then Rattlesnake grade down to the Grande Ronde. Ice cream parlor at the bottom called Boggins Oasis where we stop and laugh and giggle like kids about how fun that was then up the other side and on to Enterprise. Second day we head out through Joseph Oregon up to Hells canyon lookout then a bunch of great roads going across Oregon to Condon where we spend our second night. Day 3 we cross back into Washington at Hood River and ride up through Mt Saint Helen's and Mt. Rainier back to home.
We carry a global satellite tracking device called a SPOT and satellite phone as a lot of the roads get into areas without coverage. I will try to attach the SPOT link if anyone wants to fallow out track. It links about every 10 minutes. http://tinyurl.com/k96kpyp

I've been doing this ride for 5 years now. Some of the guys have been doing it for over 10 years.

I run a forward facing GoPro and a rear facing Contour video camera. I will add links to some videos when I get back.

david5525 - Holy crap! I just got back from 2,020 miles over 8 days on Skyline Drive in VA, the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA & NC, Tail of the Dragon etc, then home to FL. 250 mi/ day average ... That was enough each day!

Now while we were at Deal's Gap (Dragon), a Harley rider staying in the room next to us had ridden down from Canada just to ride the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway before heading to the east coast of NC for a business function. 1,500 miles in 2 days! ... just to get to Deal's Gap! There to ride around for a day before riding on to the coast.

You guys are nuts!

Leaving Saturday morning on an 8 day trip...6 days riding, 2 days in truck from San Diego to Sacramento and back (I5 is a pretty boring stretch!) and we are doing roughly 250-300 mile days which I find to be very pleasant. Plenty of time for lazy breakfasts, photo opps, and checked in and at happy hour every day by 5 or so. ZX14s are great for sport touring, though I added a Corbin seat, Gen-Mar risers, Buell pegs and a Throttlemeister.

I rode in one day 400+ hard agressive miles on my ZX-11. I also rode from Southern Arizona to Wilmington DE back in 1994 also on my old ZX-11.

I go on long trips with my 14 every year. I just got back not that long ago from a 4200 mile ride across the country. I shipped my bike and my buddy's Busa to San Deago CA and rode back to CT all the way up the PCH highway into Death Valley, Utah, Colorado and so on.....she ran flawless the entire time! And we did it over 8 days!

You are the man over 500 miles a day? My 3 day this last weekend was 400 miles a day and my ass was hurting on the third day. Having a Corbin seat did help but i'm not totally happy with it. Are you riding the stock seat? Or something else?

I ride with the stock seat LOL. The longest ride I've done in one stent was from Connecticut to Mobile Alabama over 1600 miles nonstop.... My ass is OK for the first few days but the last couple of the cross country ride it was a little bit tough I might say ??
