Cycle World is 50

Cycle World is celebrating its 50th anniversary. First publication was in 1962.

What a bummer... makes me feel old. I purchased the first edition back in 1962.

I've got an issue from 1966 I think it is, vacuum sealed in a baggy, the issue when they unveiled the mighting Kawasaki H1 Mach III.

The first motorcycle I ever owned.

Contrast that with the articles in the current issue about the 2012 ZX14, and the Ducati 1199 Panigale (Ducati's first ground-up superbike design in decades - and it rocks!)

Its a brave, new world.

Just read that issue, and thought wow, can't wait until they do a true test on the 14R. I need that 1966 issue, since that was the year I was born .

You are old that’s why you are buying the concourse 14! Sorry but I call it like I see it!

Its all good, bean ! :)

Coot, I'm getting a C14 because my interests are 100% in sport touring, and not much does sport touring better. The ZX14 for sure can't do it nearly as well. The BMW Ks can, but $10,000+ more. The Honda ST and Yamaha FJ can as well.

I tried to make my ZX14 do it, and I think I was highly successful. But right out of the crate, the C14 will be better for 10 hour rides, and 800+ mile days (hauling a weeks worth of kit, to boot) than my ZX14.

As for performance, remember the C14 has the same frame, the same forks, the same brakes as the ZX14. The guys on COG working with Guhl have got them to over 170 hp. So there ain't much difference once you zero out the speed limiter in the ECU.

For the kind of riding you do..... a bicycle would be fine. ROFL
