You may be thinking of the company called Annitorri who used to carry HM shifters. That's where I got mine. Great service there but they no longer carry the HM shifters. They sell a simpler shifter that is less expensive and a lot less adjustable. I haven't heard any reviews recently.
There is a US company on FB. There is their phone# on the side. I do not see a website.
Every gear change is different. The seamless shift technology dynamically adapts ‘kill time’ and other parameters in real time to provide the perfect shift – regardless of RPM, load, rider style or gear. .....first we offered the revolutionary and only digital strain gauge to the world which was an instant hit from cruiser riders through to world championship winning teams, now we have taken that technology a giant leap forwards with seamless shift.
.....It works by intense processing of the sensor signals using very advanced predictive math in the form of non-linear Kalman Algorithms. The same math and technology that guides missiles and computes the trajectory of Comets.
The strain gauge is a small cylinder that expands/contracts in response to strain on the shift linkage from the gear shift pedal. Depending on what mode you have it set for C-contract, E-expand or CE-contract and expand (if the model is equipped with auto blip for clutchless downshifts), the strain gauge causes the electrical contact that signals the ignition cut to unload the transmission so you can shift smoothly without using the clutch. I saw simpler DynoJet shifters that worked this way 10 years ago so I do not think HM invented it but they may have perfected it. The DJ shifters of old were not very good but I hear no complaints now.
PROBLEM: What if you put enough strain on the shift pedal to trigger the ignition cut but not enough to cause the mechanical shift? Also, you may find that some gears switch smoother from a longer kill time and others shorter but you only have one kill time you can set. To complicate things further, rpm comes into play when selecting an optimum kill time.
My HM Plus works good. I have it set for 65 ms kill time. I have played with different kill times and sensitivity settings but I did not succeed in finding a setting where I never miss a gear under all conditions. I love it but if you go with the HM Plus, the best advice I can give you is MAKE SURE you kick that puppy into gear hard and really fast. The kill time won't wait for you if you are timidly lifting on the shift pedal. You miss a gear it goes into false N or slams back to the previous gear. Yes, I chipped gear teeth initially and they came out in the next few oil changes . I'm very careful about how and when I use it now. I really enjoy it though. Might just be my favorite mod. I plan to convert to GP shift pattern (so now I will switch the E mode) which should help with making a definite upshift and I will mess around with kill time and sensitivity settings again. I have discovered that the PC5 has a very detailed quickshifter utility.....more in a minute gotta go.
