Thank you Fortech58. I got your email address and you can delete it from the previous message if you want. Just sent off an email to you.

Thanks for the photos of the stuff too!

Not sure where you're located but I'm relocating to Bossier City Louisiana in early March. Looking forward to having a lot more tracks to choose from and try...

I live in that little strip of land called the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's not Canada...LOL most people don't even know it exists! We have a drag strip not far from here. Not a good one. Also, one in Union Grove down by Milwaukee. Also not a good one. Good or not, I'll do them. I expect I'll be traveling to the best to run this bike for all it's worth. My real dream is a two mile LSR course. LOL we have two miles of straight road here just recently paved. I took a mile of it to do almost 180 on my Gen1 but that was a once in a lifetime experience. It's just too dangerous with police and wild animals wandering about.

My mind was already made up to purchase a H2 before this coming Summer, and after reading up on turbos for the 14R I'm seriously thinking about going this route opposed to a H2. Decisions decisions decisions!

Nastynotch is a member on here who also owns a recent year H2. Apparently the ECU for this model hasn't been cracked yet. He prefers his 14R. If at all possible, I'd hang onto that H2, it's an amazing machine with the factory supercharger. I can't help but think a boosted 14R is going to be superior in every way as long as the boost system is reliable. The 14 is an old bike though. People have been turboing them from day one. I'd think the reliability question has been solved a while ago.

siroht, where abouts are you in North Texas? I plan on running at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis in the late spring and beyond once I relocate and get unpacked.

I'd only be splitting the case once if at all possible. The rods and pistons would get changed along with anything else in there that needed to be addressed. I seem to recall Romans speaking of running turbo on a completely stock engine. He was increasing the boost incrementally but never found the point where it blew up. The integrity of the engine must have outlasted his nerve.

Rook there is so much to say here to aleive some of your concerns. Where to begin?

ZX-6R only starts waking up at 8000RPM

ZX-10R starts waking up at 6000RPM

ZX-14 wakes up at 3500Rpm

Now add turbo to the above bikes. Think about how fast the hot exhaust air spins up that little turbo. Where ever a naturally asperated bike wakes up so does your turbo. Now that's keeping it simple. You Will Notice Zero Boost Lag. Heck, you just let the clutch out on a zx14 lol

Point is Please don't give Lag any thought. If there was even a hint lag I didn't feel it (in a stock compression bike)

Rook if you remember Cycle Logic was the first to offer turbo Kits for the ZX14

There were lots of issues with that kit. Oil pump failures. Airbox would be full of oil, waste gate had a mind of it own. Sometimes I would see 8psi on the guage and sometimes 10psi. Drove me crazy. But I was hooked. No looking back.
Ruined me in a way, I still today compare every bike I ride to a 14 Turbo. The H2 I didn't keep as it provided only half adrenaline the rush of a big block torque monster turbo 14.

Important Note. Back then we did not have the ability to play inside the ECU. Fast forward. When Software became available we could see the Gen 1 ZX-14 was running 2 degrees more timing compared to the Gen 2. This was Not ideal in. May have help contributed to some early failures also.

Now, If you were a guy who installed that kit and ran 87 pump your engine was on borrowed time. From that point on turbos for our bikes got a bad rap IMO. All threads on the Topic seem to end in engine failures. I was fortunate in my studies. I owned four Turbo 14s Not one failure.

Today problems of the past are behind us. Bugs are worked out.

So Please Don't worry.

The kit you looking at from RCC is of the very best quality. There will be none of the early issues you may be reading about. All that drama we had to figure out is in the past.

The one problem you will have is Boost Greed. It Affects ALL Who Play Here. And don't say I didn't warn you lol. Richard has assortment of waste gate springs he will sell you if ever decide to not play it super safe.

Yeah, I'm passed that one. Richard assured me the ZX-14 is making 1 psi boost at 1500 rpm.

I do remember at least a couple of them. RCC was one I remember from quite a while ago.

Important Note. Back then we did not have the ability to play inside the ECU.

I'll be looking forward to that. This Gen2 will be running on state of the art electronics. I'm still fascinated with the old school modules but I'm looking forward to flash technology.

We'll see. Right now I'm like a dog shitting bones when I ride. I didn't have the nerve to run the new bike over 8500 rpm. I don't have a problem with the power, it's the possibility of a deer wondering out in the road that gets me. I'll be doing LSR and maybe drag racing where it's safe.

For the most part, I'm completely confident in an RCC Turbos kit. I'm just hunting out as many details as I can in advance. Thanks for your advice Romes. I hope you can stick around a while. I know this stuff takes up time because I'm doing it too.

I haven't been here for a while and I see my friend Romans is still sniffing around and thinking of the old days. Well Rick, your ZX14R is still running strong down here in Florida and has had some upgrades since you sold it to me, such as an RCC intercooler kit that makes all the difference in reliable performance. I took it out this past Sunday and let it stretch it's legs a little and it still scares the crap out of me!! I haven't been riding it much lately as I have a modified H2ZX-SE that keeps a smile on my face, also fitted with an air to water intercooler that REALLY makes back to back runs so much more consistent.
