Bamperformance gauge mounts
04/19/26 7:18 AM

I received my BAM performance gauge mounts on Thursday. The kit was super easy to install and the pilot hole adapter easy to use. I've now regained full view of my neutral light and clock which you'd think wouldn't matter on a race bike but it does for this old guy. I did have some contact issues at full lock to my brake lever but with Bryans design I was able to angle shave the mounting screw base and gain what I needed. If the weather holds I'll be at the Texas Motorplex next weekend for at least Friday's test and tune then Saturday's bracket event. Sunday optional if I go a few rounds Saturday! I like the new view for sure, Thanks Bryan!!

Major improvement Rick! Although it's a lot more complicated, I'm shooting for gauge wells in DIY fabricated ram air covers and I'm shooting for at least two gauges on each side, maybe three. This is really nice as is. Isn't it great when someone else did something you already thought of but it would cost you thousands in time as opposed to a couple hundred to that guy who already did it? I'll pay. I had the idea for headlight delete inserts many years back. Somebody actually made them. They're expensive as hell b/c they're carbon fiber. I ont care what they are, they're exactly what I need, already designed and tested. I'll take 'em and I did.

Thanks Rook, Bryan has them on his website for less than $100 for a pair with shipping so it was a no brainer decision for me. My low buck headlight deletes are a pair of factory headlights that had mounting boss or rear housing damage that I found on Ebay for less than $100. I cut off the front lenses and just secured them with silicone into the front fairing. They're very light though probably a few ounces heavier than carbon fiber.

That's a great idea! I was going to take the lights out and press them in damp ceramic clay. Then, before the clay shrinks and dries past leather hard (that's a ceramic term, stiff but not dry) press 1/8" sheets of polymer clay in the mold. Form a lip around the whole edge for mounting inside the fairing. A set of old headlights could be used as a support for the soft, uncured polymer clay pieces while they bake in the oven. It's not even very high temp cooking. After the polymer clay pieces cool, they are basically a tough plastic substance, harder than ABS. ...otherwise, fiberglass. Glue 'em in with some silicone and get rid of that headlight bracket in the top fairing. I even thought about how I might make an LED headlight. It would be satisfactory for at least daytime visibility. Might even be ok for nighttime riding. How complicated is a flashlight? It's a concave reflector. Put a bright LED in there and you have a headlight. ...but as I said, I have more money now and less time. I'll just pay someone else who came up with a good solution.

...just watch that silicone. You probably are aware but it has a lifespan. I sealed my 08 Hayabusa ram air tubes with GE (yes, General Electric) silicone which was highly recommended for it's durability. Several years later, it was possible to peel it off.

I think I will pursue the DIY headlight delete for the Gen1 I will own again someday. One thing I don't understand is why, when aftermarket body panel companies make their stuff, They include the parts that aren't there anymore. ...I mean directional lights on fairings and the city light on the headlight delete inserts. ...those things aren't there anymore so why don't they smooth them over? I would.

Your headlight deletes are surely more heavy than carbon fiber but the city light portion actually looks pretty cool with the shading effect you have going on in your paint job.

I only needed two gauges, boost and afr, so I 3d printed some mounts that bolt to the standoffs. Im on a connie so it has risers with an existing hole already threaded and dont remember if my zx14 had anywhere available that would be similat. The standard 52mm gauges juuussst barely clear below the factory gauges but do not touch anywhere. Nice to still have full view of my factory gauges, but two would be the limit.

Looks good, I’ve updated my website listing to let people know sanding may be required and I will include a piece of sandpaper with each kit as well.
