I'm reporting on my latest updates on my track SV650. Now hold on a second ! There is some ZX14 connection here so humor me.
Based on some SV forum experts the stock rear shock had to go. No adjustments and basically a pogo stick.
Off to the trash bin with it. One of the suggestions for replacement was...you guessed it...a ZX14 shock. So I got one from evil bay and it eventually arrived. Surprisingly, the length and mounts are exactly the same on both bikes. I had to trim the plastic on the front side of the tool tray to get the upper mount aligned. Got everything done and backed off the preload a bunch. Took the bike off the stands and swung a leg over it.
Hmmm.....the bike didn't move or settle... AT ALL !
Back up on the stand and I discovered that the lower shock nut was hitting the dogbone. A washer fixed that so it's time for another test ride. The ride went great. The rear end is much more stable and soaks up the bumps significantly better. Also tried out my new levers and R6 quick turn throttle tube. Everything is working great.
Hurry up Spring !
