Cut Brutal plates to fit secondary injector rail. Bummer to cut up something that good looking and shiny- but there wasn’t another option besides shortening the spacers on the injector rail mount. Pictures show the rough cut complete on one plate. The second picture shows the holes (3) drilled after both plates cut and installed. So many metal shavings that I decided to hose the frame out. Lots of glitter and dust as well as large chunks.

Installed block off coolant plug. I broke the stupid little neck that is normally on this piece due to the factory hole being drilled uneven. This caused it to crack. I took the whole neck off and just drilled and tapped where the neck sprouts out from. I still need to do this with the Crankcase Vent.

Installed Secondary Injector Rail. Also installed fuel line and Idle Air Control sandwich plates.

The Stage 2 Fuel System Install Instructions are not extremely detailed. It’s sort of like “drill holes in this area, then install everything. Here’s a single picture to look at.”

More Pictures.

Bottom plates are ugly- but they do the job.

You could fix that up with some sandpaper if you want. The basic idea is very sound, just a little rough around the edges but really pretty excellent in principle. I'm willing to spend weeks on this kind of thing to make it perfect but either approach achieves the same end result. You're a "get it done" guy and I'm more of a "take as long as it takes to make it look like it was meant to be that way" guy. They both work the same. What you did looks good. Could it be more polished?... YES but it looks good. More importantly, it works as it should.

HAHA, I am a "Get it done" guy. Sometimes to a fault. Ask anyone that knows me. I kept the top plates super shiny and clean. I gave up on the bottom plates since I figured you cant see them unless the engine is removed. I still hit it with a Dremel with a sanding tip to deburr the edges and smoothen corners out. The bottom pieces come from the factory in pretty rough condition to be fair, not polished like the top. Funny part is that you cant see either side unless the whole bike is torn apart. But I'll blame the particularly rough finish on the fact that I wanted to get those velocity stacks in once and for all. They are kind of a huge pain to install and remove. Stupid tiny screws are hard to deal with.

I somehow had the idea the fuel rail went under the air box where the stock injectors are. It goes right inside the air box like a nitrous spray bar. ...so this thing squirts fuel right down the intakes like dry nitrous?

I was on the same page as you. Yep the injectors mount inside the airbox and spray like nitrous. right into the throttle bodies.. kinda. little bit of an offset so it’s not exactly square through the throttle body. But almost. Probably going to take today and maybe tomorrow off of progress. It’s my birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY danmin!!! You have a wonderful present there. Just take some time and relish it a while. It's very cool that you can enjoy your labor of love on normal days and even cooler that you can just sit back and look at it on the special days. I've spent much more time looking at my bikes than I have riding them. The steady lust of looking makes the riding all that much better. Yeah, I said that!

Turbo installed. I had to remove and reinstall the piston oil squirter feed hose a few times to bend and hammer it to allow for the turbo to fit. As pictured in the second picture- it was making contact with the hot-side of the turbo (yikes) and it blocked the turbo from seating in the head's exhaust holes properly. Also installed the exhaust pipe (I would do this BEFORE installing turbo onto engine). I swapped the wastegate springs to Red + Green which is 10.15 PSI. This is a hugely difficult task to do. I used 3 zip-ties to equally and slowly move the lid of the wastegate onto the body so I could bolt it on. I had zip-ties break more than once. I also had to remove the water neck on the front/head of the engine and clock the turbo. The cold-side outlet was pointed in such a way that would not allow the water neck to be installed. 1/2" wrench and 5 mintues fixed that up.

My dating life took a turn in a direction that gives me exponentially more time to work on bikes. So my planned vacation from turning wrenches ended early. I am planning to get the intercooler and the odds and ends wrapped up today, or I'll install the engine today, but likely not both. I also installed the fuel pump and some lines already.

To Do List:

- Install BOV
- Install Intercooler kit
- Install fuel lines
- Drill and strip original fuel pump
- Install Engine
- Receive back ordered clutches and steels (been waiting since february/march)
- Add oil and break in engine (Not doing it until I get the clutches and steels)
- Install Clutch basket, plates, lock-up
- Install boost lines and gauge
- Install new front forks (incl. brakes and fluid)
- Get tuned
- Install new LED lights (HIDs Stopped working and now there is no room to store the ballast boxes)
- Install fairings

That must be the one covered with the black woven sheath, right? Is it a solid tube or is it a hose of some sort?

Seems like they should have had the fitment of that part perfect. There's been a couple times where I had to use spacers or do a little filing to get simple aftermarket parts to fit but this is pretty complex. ...it should at least fit with itself even if it might need a little tweaking to fit the bike.

The brand new turbo looks beautiful! I imagine it will gradually become darkened and crusty on the outside like a used stock header though, hey?

I wonder where danmin went? That must have been one heck of a birthday celebration.

He'd mentioned his "dating life" had taken a turn giving him more time to work on the bike. Maybe it ended up being a U-TURN? Got her by the pony tails like handle bars...

Sorry for the disappearing act. I had to run to the store to get milk and cigarettes and forgot to come back. Haha! Hindsight is 20/20. I am thinking a U-turn would've been a bad idea. Had a couple of death threats/surprise visits come my way from what turned out to be her alternate-boyfriend. Good riddance.

I am actually leaving the country for 2 weeks starting 5/21. Headed to Chiang Mai, Thailand. I took a break from the bike for a whole bunch of stuff and ended up never circling back to it. Lost the fire. Had a buddy get off of house-arrest after a few years so I spent time taking him out and getting plastered, started to look at moving closer to the city/beach so lots of driving around and google-ing, had a different buddy go through some stuff, started a new round of Church activities, started doing stuff like going to car/bike meets to catch up with old buddies... You guys know how it goes. Life gets busy in ebbs and flows.

I'll likely have something to report back on early-june.

Current bike status:

- Engine is sitting on ground. It fell off of the jack I was using to move it around (also the last time I touched the bike)
- I got a new swingarm in the mail. It's just sitting around. I need to move stuff in my garage around to get to the hoist I will need to use to hold the bike up as I swap the swingarm. This swingarm is only +4" over stock. Looks prettier than my current stock swingarm that has the bolt-on extensions. Also looks 'sporty' without looking like I am in a longbed pickup truck. My current setup is +8" or more. Not ugly. Just really really long and without a good reason for it. Also chain-slaps like crazy. That is how I bought it... Kinda
- Front forks are halfway replaced. My old ones had blown seals. I swapped seals on one of the originals, then the other one was locked up internally which prevented disassembly. New EBay forks came in. Low miles. New forks are here but aren't fully installed. They are just sitting in the triple trees not tightened down. Need to get these on before I can swap the swingarm.
- New fairings arrived. Black like my old ones were. My old ones were from Amazon at a bargian price of $300. You get what you pay for. New ones are from Monster Fairings. Hopefully they fit a little nicer and dont chip paint/clear. Cost a lot more than the Amazon ones. Hopefully they are worth it.

Remaining Items:
-install the engine
-Boost leak test the airbox (99% sure its gonna leak like crazy)
-Install cooling system and new heat exchanger
-Modify stock fuel pump for new fuel pump (drilling holes and throwing stuff away)
-Block off radiator outlet for oil cooler
-Plumb boost reference lines
-And the aforementioned suspension changes
-Break in engine and see if it explodes

Oh yeah. BTW Rook. The tube is part aluminum pipe and part rubber hose. I had to bend the aluminum to hug the case better near where the oil cooler is. Somehow this one was bent a little bit. It also isn't the original engine so it might've been bent up by the previous owner.

Side note. If you guys know any ladies looking for a 23/yo with a halfway built turbo bike, send em my way

Hey Dan, my guess would be that was overheating from either loose battery cables or a poor negative cable ground. I believe that would cause the stator which is virtually the voltage regulator to increase output in an attempt to show the ecu the target 14.0-14.4 volt input? I have a few donor harnesses so when you get back to it look over the whole harness and let me know what connectors you need. Just cover the ride and they're yours...
