520 with full fuel? Your scale might need be to be calibrated. I would be pleasantly surprised if mine is 510 with the BST's on. I'm little skeptic, try a different scale just to be sure.
Here where I come from... 2013 with ABS curb weight is: 590.9LBS. No way you got rid of 70+lbs
their bike exhaust is lighter, and they snatched off 30 lbs of futile parts, also they started lighter since 2012 is sans ABS. I'm not sure if the longer swingarm is heavier but that bike should have at least 30lbs less weight than yours.

I'll check er again...but it sounds right to me...my other one weighed in at 546...something right around there. It's a TRUCK scale...so it's gotta be pretty accurate...I would think anyway.
"Total weight savings racked in at an impressive 85.86 pounds less than the stock 584-pound porker, which means we were finally sub 500 pounds".
"I'm not sure if the longer swingarm is heavier but that bike should have at least 30lbs less weight than yours"...why should it have 30 less pounds?.The ABS only accounts for just about 4 lbs...maybe less.IDK...I'll try another scale somewhere....

Here is another good thread.
10.92 seems to be the consensus with BST's. I hope my rotors are going to be lighter than stock! Shaving 12 at the wheels would be fantastic.
Come on Green, get you another CT-dual, Single to save more weight, add the BST's and after market rotors etc...

I just rounded up. If you match the mods... they got you in the exhaust department by at least 10 and in the "futile" hardware removal department by 20lbs. Now the swingarm is where the mystery is at. The stock one is pretty light.
Sparky it's a phenomenon known as the hyperbike anorexia, once you start messing with it...
Weight savings are great but I don't stress over it. My main problem is the wheelbase, smaller bikes are so tight on the apex they are a pita to follow rider being equal

Dont know why anyone goes on about the weight period !!!!!!!as im only 5'6 1/2" and my stock weight is a non issue unless I have to reverse up an incline then it,s still a non issue cause I get off to move it then !!

Well Drag...I'd have to say that I'm very inclined to agree with ya on the scale....Maybe it was 540????IDK...it did seem awfully 'light' IMO(the readout). That couldn't be right...no...I don't think so.I'll find another...or weigh her when there's a guy inside...maybe it was calibrated for some sort of previous load or something?I didn't look at it before I pulled onto it.It was 45 degrees out...maybe it wasn't working well?
"Al is going to be disappointed".Not as disappointed as Tipper;)
I really only ditched the stock cans for the weight. The Yoshis sound most excellent though...NO EARPLUGS:)

Thanks that's good to know, I thought the beast was around 650-700lbs for some reason. I have the Two Brothers slip ons and they weigh almost nothing it seems compared to the stock cans. I probably dropped 30lbs right there. My Corbin seat is a touch heavier but only by a few lbs. So I'm probably at 550'ish which is still impressive for such a big bike.

Yea,
The two bros slip ons saved a lot of weight ! those stock cans were HEAVY ! I lost almost 90 lbs. of body weight last year too ! That helped the handling ALOT ! LOL !

Grn,
Do you think you would need earplugs if you didn't have the db killers in the pipes? I heard that Yoshis are quieter than most other slips. I want a nice sound but nothing crazy.

It is not realistic to think your ZX14R is at 520 full of gas. Go get it weighed on a legit scale and report back.
I would say you are closer to 570 pounds with your Shorai battery, Slip-ons, and full tank of gas.
You probably saved an honest 10 pounds with the LI battery, and another 25 pounds with the slip-on exhaust.
Full tank of fuel weighs 30+ pounds on top of your bikes stock weight of 585 pounds.
The stock weight of my Gen1 ZX14 was 540 pounds, empty gas tank.
I performed the following mods:
-9 pounds with ZX10 wheel swap
-10 pounds with LI battery
-10 pounds removal of mirrors, rear passenger pegs, engine heat mat, other misc items
-30 pounds with replacement Akrapovic EVO Exhaust
Here is what a 485 pound race ready GenI ZX14 looks like:

I always wear earplugs and find the noise level of my Yoshi's to be a bit louder than the OEM cans, but not at all loud ... if that makes sense. I see no reason to use the db killers that came with the system. The R-77's sound great with a lower pitch, and nice growl when accelerating. There's no backfire when decelerating that I can detect. More of a burble sound, which I like.
The R-77 slip-ons are 18.5lbs lighter weight than the stock cans based on my bathroom scales. Tom

She looks Great Werks....that CSB is a very sharp color....I have the db reducers in mine....So...they're nicely smoothed, but not totally quiet...enough for me to not wear plugs. No backfires here either...not a one.Just nice 'clean' engine exhaust sound...nothing edgy or ragged.
"Do you think you would need earplugs if you didn't have the db killers in the pipes?"...I really can't say...I never heard em without yet. They are the mellowest aftermarket mufflers I've heard though.Others have said the same....I'd say...probably...yes...I would need plugs if I wanted to help keep my hearing.I'll try these with plugs next time...just for a personal comparo. My ears are already damaged a tad from years of loud stuff....so it's hard to tell what's really loud to me or not....but the CT single with the db plug...I still had to wear plugs...it was just too sharp for me.And droning at speed.
These Yoshis aren't doing that.Don't even really notice em while cruising...not much anyway..for me...good.
I've a question for you Werks...ever have your yellow 'engine'lamp stay on at startup?Mine has twice now...and after she runs a bit....I turn her off...restart...all's fine.Only at first startup after she's sat in the cold all night and unstarted for several days...any thoughts on this?Next time...I'll check out the KTRC display/Power mode display if that lamp's on.Supposedly, the KTRC and 'display' for it is supposed to be 'flashing' on there if the engine lamp 'comes on' and stays on(meaning there's a problem with the DFI)....but mine hasn't 'come on' while riding.Only those two times at cold start(it didn't go out as it should).I haven't touched anything except change those slip-ons.And reconnect that EVAP canister...that shouldn't start some problem, should it?She's ONLY got 160 miles on er....maybe it's just 'breaking in' everything?
Well, she's been sitting for around 5 hours now...32 degrees in the garage.Fired her up...for a couple of seconds...no yellow lamp....I guess it's nothing...probably the cold injectors after several days of sitting...then she resets after warming up...I guess?Today...she stumbled and shut off a couple of times at first startup.Had to give a bit of throttle..then she settled in...lamp was on.After warming up for several minutes...I turned her off,restarted...the lamp was out.IDK...probably cold and sitting.I noticed it was on the other day when I took off and was riding...for several miles....I stopped(she seemed to be running excellent).Restarted...lamp was out.IDK what it is....but we'll see how she does the next cold start...also...today...when she was 'trying' to fire...I noticed a really strange chemical smell from the exhaust(I assume).Never smelled anything like it really.Maybe that evap canister flowing some vapors into that combustion chamber? It didn't smell like fuel...not even close. The mufflers were cold...so it wasn't them I don't think.
I've concluded it was 'low' battery voltage...triggered the engine sensor...my Shorai says to keep the tender on there in store mode if it's gonna sit for more than a couple of days.It didn't crank today like it normally would when warmed up and being ridden. All's well. It's been very cold here...

Grn 14 ... I've a question for you Werks...ever have your yellow 'engine'lamp stay on at startup?
I've haven't noticed the lamp staying on during startup and the bike sits several days at a time during the winter between rides due to cold and snow .... The garage stays about 45f overnight.
