Yes I did. I never took a calpers to it but it looks the exact same diameter as the stock shift star on the ZX-14. A smaller diameter would seem to produce a faster shift (if the rest of the transmission can handle a faster shift). The EVO shift star does have lobes that are a lot more rounded. That didn't produce any difference in shift quality. The sharper lobes of the stock shift star might just be better to ensure it clicks into gear and stays in gear.
I had a well worn in stock shift star and I could tell no difference going to the EvO but I can tell you the EVO is almost an ounce heavier. Adds a little weight and no advantage I can feel. Now the EVO shift star for the Hayabusa is smaller than stock so that might produce some better shifts.
If you got it, be careful installing the detent arm. Make absolutely certain the hole in the arm is ON the shoulder of the faster and not under the shoulder...else you'll squash the detent arm between the shoulder bolt and the engine case. I had to order a new detent arm from Factory Pro.
Should you go with the ceramic bearings in the detent arm? No. The steel bearings spun a lot freer than the new ceramics. Factory Pro said the ceramic bearings had to polish in. I got ceramic. No difference I could feel shifting.

I think Grn was the only one who didn't think it was the next best thing after sliced bread. He was right. I'm not saying it couldn't be a good product, it just wasn't or couldn't be engineered to exceed the performance of the stock part on the ZX-14. ...so why are they making it? Got me.

I don't recommend it for a ZX-14. Maybe for a Hayabusa but the EVO shift star was no better than stock in my 08 ZX-14.

I think that's a safe bet. Save the money for some other mod. The shift star is just an excuse to inspect your clutch IMO. Good learning experience but if the reason for going in there is to install the shift star, the end result is nothing but a small weight gain.

I might get a refund if thats the case'.Some gearboxes shift a bit different than others.No two bikes are the same.I couldn't notice anything really.Just made me feel more 'updated'.Now some have lowered their idle rpms to about 1000.Even a tad lower.This has softened the gear shifts into 1st from Neutral.
The 08 Busa has the smoothest shifts I've ever felt.Virtually NO clunk into 1st at a stop or whatever.Up/down shifts are REALLY nice if timed right w/o clutch.

I'd say the same about my 08 busa. My 14 wasn't bad at all on shifting but my busa is smoother at all rpm. I was just reading a post about a new Gen3 Hayabusa's clutch chattering when the bike is cold though.
Zxpredator, if you want a nice gearbox mod, undercut your transmission. I don't know if it will shift any smoother but you will be able to shift faster without worrying about the shift completing. Missing real fast foot shifts have been the only real problem I have had with my Gen2 ZX-14 transmission.
Or maybe an air shifter would be up your alley? I've always heard those are very reliable.

I have tutorials on here for the procedures. You'll be removing the external shift mechanism, clutch and the shift star and detent arm. Be very certain the detent arm is on the shoulder of the screw before you tighten otherwise you'll squash it like I did mine. I had to order a new one. It was a lot of work and vey educational but I've already told you my feelings on the Evo. kind of underwhelming.
