Dang Lytnin, glad to hear you and the bike are OK. I did that more than a few times over the years but a couple times I had close to $1500 in fairing damage.

Yeah, the sidestand on my busa folded after it had sat for about ten seconds and down she went on the LH side. I double, triple checked the side stand after that. Then a couple weeks later, I parked the busa on a slight uphill grade after thoroughly checking and testing the side stand. It fell over running. I got new plastics which cost about 1200 dollars and it hasn't fallen since. I'm totally compulsive about the side stand how I park the bike now. I walk back and double-double, triple check it.

I also dropped my 14 in the driveway a few weeks after I bought it. I got lucky and slid my knee under the bike before it really fell flat though. It was just a few spots of clearcoat damage on the lower and the bottom of the mirror. I touched those up and they looked like new again.

I'd bite the bullet and pony up the thousand bucks for new plastics. Hope you can find all you need in MS Blue. I think you will have a problem finding the lowers. EBay is a good source but look closely for broken tabs. Be ready to do some buffing. ...or maybe go with a fresh repaint on what fairings you need.

lytnin, if you're serious about selling, I might be interested. MIGHT. I'm out of work now but if a job turns up, I'd love to replace that old wreck I have sitting in my storage unit. Yours isn't a wreck, just a tip-over which most used bikes were at one point or another. Hell, mine slid 225 feet and it might run again with enough work but I don't think I would have the time to do that until I'm your age ....if I'm lucky enough to not have to work until I'm 70!

The 14 gets pulled into a front wheel chock so it sits strait up when parked. I went to throw my right leg over it and the left knee decided to not like me and I just fell backwards onto the cardboard boxes. I just looked at the bike and told it to quit laffing as it was still standing up and I was on the ground.

I really need to look at non surgical fixes for a knee.

Mr Rook it seems I usually never sell anything and the last 2 bikes that left the garage was given away to my deceased wifes uncle and the other to my son-in-law. At 1 time long ago I had 8 bikes of 1000cc and lager that were all licensed and insured for me but after awhile I accepted that it was just bragging rights and sold 5 of them. That was years ago but then I gave away a 2000 ZRX1100 to her uncle and a 2015 Vulcan 650S with 700 miles on it to the SIL. If the knees do not get better I may wind up on a Can Am like my present wife has. I am having problems trying to hold the FJR up but the 14 and ZRX I can still manage.

I'm more glad to hear you say that than I would to hear you say you'd sell me the bike, lytnin. I have a yearning to restore my collection to what it once was but I can wait. When the day comes that you can't hold that 14 up, it should go in your living room forever!

My Brother has his 78 CBX gathering dust in his work room. It has been there since 1992.
He added the handmade fairing and saddlebags.

Hey Lytnin, have you considered knee replacement ? My left knee is still a mess after surgery. I'm looking at
getting it replaced. My neighbor had both hers replaced at age 70 and was up and walking almost immediately.
She said things were much better.

Yes Mr Chrly the boxes were there because I was gonna try packing some stuff up but I let the boxes over run the gayrage. I am thinking of putting gym mats on the floor to soften the blow on the next gayrage go down .....

I had total left knee replacement and have spinal stenosis which further weakens leg muscles. Hoping for surgery to fix. meanwhile I'm chicken to ride the ZX afraid that if left knee gives out, I'm going down. Beside cosmetic damage, I'm not sure I could pick it back up. This sux. I'm told I should get a trike or CanAM. Not gonna happen.

If you are a Veteran, my old Army Buddy lives in Minneapolis. He had both of his knees replaced. First one in 2016 and the 2nd 2017. He had no pain with the 2nd surgery and walking that day.
I visited him in 2018 and I could not stay up with him.
If I need a knee replacement, I'm heading to VA Hospital in Minneapolis.

Last time my bike fell over it cost me two broken ankles! Glad yours was a lot less severe

I feel so lucky to have never broken any bones in my whole life. Two broken ankles???? That had to be that it tipped over on top of you before you got on it.
