Green Neutral light & "N" - Steady ON, why???
02/12/15 7:32 AM

Good day ya'll....

The Neutral green light suddenly just stays on & the "N" is always displayed no matter the gear I'm on WHile riding. Bike selects Fine. I checkd the Neutral switch, cleaned it and replace back. Still, no luck. Any Ideas.
Thanks in advance guys,
"pissed off" Homms from Nigeria....(lololol)!

If a TRE was installed, that would be normal. This just cropping up for no apparent reason leads me to suspect there is a loose or damaged wire. Sorry, I don't know where that wire would be but it should be easy to find. People have been putting TREs on them for years. A TRE is a resistor so maybe something has changed the resistance in that wire.

Thanks. What's the function of this TRE?
I know I didn't install anything new on my bike.
this doesn't have a fuse controlling it, right? All the same, I checked all the fuses in the fuse boxes {under the seat} and all are fine.
What am i missing here???

You cleaned the N switch?Where is that?.

I'd think if the switch or wiring was bad...there would be NO lamp happening.

Thanks. What's the function of this TRE?

A TRE is just a resistor. There are two different types of TRE. Google some ads for TRE 008 and TRE 006 and you'l get the rundown on what they are supposed to do (for what that is worth). You may also discover where they would be located and what they look like. From what I've read, owners like them but they are probably not as good as achieving the same goal through other means.

The TRE 006 locks the gear position sensor in N so that the ECU thinks the bike is always in N. N has no restrictive mapping so the bike runs with more aggressive fueling (and supposedly timing as well). The TRE 008 makes the flies open according to 6th gear mapping which has the lowest flies open rpm of any gear.

Someone may be able to add/correct/elucidate on this. I've never owned a TRE. Just pull flies and/or flash and you have all the benefits both TREs claims to give.

I'd think if the switch or wiring was bad...there would be NO lamp happening.

Me too but since his bike is acting like it has a TRE 006, i thought it might possibly have a loose one or something is damaged causing a change in resistance in the wire a TRE is normally installed to. It's sort of a shot in the dark but easy enough to check to rule out or confirm.

Homms,

this doesn't have a fuse controlling it, right? Yes and No. The fuse is fine it sends a fault code. Make sense no bad fuse? If the wire went to ground via a rub thru, this would/could blow a fuse. See those two variables?

You say you, 'cleaned it and replace back.' Was there a pin missing?

What's the function of this TRE? It sends in a single signal as if disconnected, the pin does not turn to the next resistance value but this single resistor stops the flow. Both wires tie into the mapping of a gear. If the signal is out of range, disconnected, wire out of connector, this acts as a single sent signal. The ECU recognizes the downed good value needed and defaults out of FULL Power. The light coming on signals a safety kind of remapping.

I know I didn't install anything new on my bike. Recheck the last thing you did to your bike.
