I was just thinking of heading out there this summer. Though I won't be able to make it until the last week of June. That and I'd be bringing the 600RR as it is SOOO much more fun in the twisties!

My MC has a 4-day scheduled to the Great Smokey Mountains from May 25 through the 28th. We will for sure run the Dragon a few times. Not sure where we are staying yet, next meeting on February 4th we'll decide.
Have to have the folks agree on my 3-day up National Road and down to Elkins WV and then 250 / 219 / 39 / 211 (WOOHOO) / Blue Ridge Parkway / Skyline Drive / home because we need to make motel reservations soon, it is July 27th through the 29th and motels in the area are starting to get booked already because its tourist territory.

Meh, I see people pull up to destinations and roll their bikes off a trailer, and I've got nothing but disdain for them. If you can't ride it there, and ride it back, and fix a flat or chain problem out on the road, you ain't a motorcyclist.

yeah, its not that i cant fix small stuff, i just rather have the trailer if one of us asses up...me and my buddy rode kinda hard up there last year,as i took off quite a bit of aluminum from footpegs, anything can happen, just nice to have trailer in such case. i can bring my grill, beer, etc. in the truck too, as the ol kawi has ZERO storage space.

Good point.
Still, I don't respect people that show up for events with their bikes on trailers.
If I go down, its a quick call to State Farm and the bike gets recovered home, no charge.
I'd be more worried about ME than the silly bike, and I can't ride home in the trailer. At least if I'm hurt, after the nearest emergency room stabilizes me, the VA will transport me to the nearest VA Medical Center and patch me up.

Privy, I agree and I've never trailered my bike yet anywhere but could understand trailering to the Dragon to deal with any "what if" conditions that could getcha when knowingly pushing limits all day so far from home.... I rode out to meetup with Adams last year at the Dragon from Charlotte and wished I had a trailer just because I was spent after a day of riding there and still had to ride 3hrs back to Asheville, NC.......an a/c cage would have been nice instead of 80 degrees in leather - lol
Adams, will check my schedule for around 4/16.......

I trailer to the track EVERY time! lol
I'll be trailering to the Dragon this summer(I'm taking the 600RR).....other than that I completely agree Privateer. I'd rather ride there, that is the fun part.

I prefer to ride the bike up, but if I am only going to be going up for 1 day, I usually trailer. It is sort of hard on my old bones to try to ride the 200+ miles there, 100+ miles while I am there, and then be expected to ride 200 miles back home. If I have more than 2 days, I ride the bike, but if not, I can trailer the bike there, and still be fresh when I get home.
I will keep an eye on this, I might be able to come up for a 1 day ride.
I will be back up in june for a 5 day trip.
