Got a great deal on a 2010 ZX-14 with only 772 miles on the odometer, just in time to celebrate my 56th birthday. Hopefully soon I’ll be switching all plastics to red and or black.

What is the reason for the red tank and fairing?
Miles, from what I was told (not by the salesperson), the original owner was driving out of his driveway and a car pulled in front of him, so he dropped the bike sideways. Not sure why they didn't installed either black or red plastics.
Not sure how the dealer got the bike back, (they are not sharing that with me), but it does have a clear title. I didn't made a big fuss about the colors because is cheaper to find the plastics than a nice tank, and for a bike with only 772 miles I bought the bike at a great price, (btw, red is my favorite color,).
I've been looking around for a while and most places in my area (for a paint job), ask almost the same price of brand new plastics. After the riding season is over I am planning to make a few color changes. Thanks for asking.
btw, the bike runs fine, well see how it behaves when it reaches 150 miles per hour

Thank you COOTER!
Thank you for the link Speed, that is a great price for the tank, but my black is like your avatar picture, Ebony Black from the 2009 Monster Edition version. That is what I like about this forum, people looking out for their fellow riders! Thanks.

I dunno Kofla, but that tank looks identical to mine(minus the decal), so do the lowers.
Doesn't Diablo black has silver metal flakes in it?
I would think if the tank was Diablo black, then the lowers would be as well and I don't see any metal flake in the lowers, the tank is harder to see but I still can't see any.
I would contact the seller and ask.
*Some are clueless on what there selling.
I purchased some grills off Ebay for an '09 se (orange fins) but it was listed as an 08 se (red fins)but the picture looked like orange, so I contacted the seller who informed me he was color blind.lol
After asking his wife he confirmed that they where actually orange so I bought them.

Speed, I am going to the dealer tomorrow and I'll be asking, but like you said, "some are clueless on what they are selling".
I think I stick with the current colors for now, as a winter project I'll change it to the 2010 Candy Persimmon Red. Thanks.
I found a new black fuel tank with fuel pump on my local craigslist. It's 2006 black. I don't know if the color is the same as what you need, or if it's cheaper to paint your tank to match. Just pointing this out.
Thank you Erik. Paint job prices in my area are simply outrageous. As I told Speed, for now I am just going to enjoy the bike. Eventually, next winter, (unless I can find a deal I can't refuse), I'll be replacing all plastics into the original color, Candy Persimmon Red. Thanks for the link!

Ha winter.. best time to turn her into what you want her to be...
Turned my monster se into an orange/black se this last winter.
60kms later, and it was back to locating new parts and painting all over again as I fell down on my first ride in foot deep sand. Sucks...

Keep wearing that suit with the red shirt and people are going to think it was meant to be like that
Lol, Speedy, I changed my mind and bought the tank. Maybe for now I'll make mine looks like yours, black/green, lol Where did you find your Orange/black plastics? I like the 2009 Candy Burnt Orange colors too.

So was the tank ebony black or Diablo black?
Well,I found the front cowl and foreman's on Ebay (perfect!) then bought some plastic from a member on this site (red parts) and had them painted burnt orange.(wanted to keep my originals just in case cops are looking for an orange bike, I swap it back to black and green! lol, nah.. I like them both so..)
Didn't want to pay the ridiculous prices that color rite charges for it's paint so my *painter friend (good to have), had some luck and found the color code where he buys paint.(code 17L)
Perfect match I have to say, and I'm pretty anal when it comes to my toys... everything HAS to be PERFECT!
Not having much luck at getting the exact decals though....
OEM is crazy expensive... over 500$(closer to 600$) just for stickers..
I kind of like the look without them now, a bit less orange, but I'm thinking of bringing a bit of the monster look back in, a large M in orange might look pretty good.
If I had to do it all over again, I would go with the link you posted from Ebay they look the best and already have the decals on them.
Would have been cheaper in the end.
Also the guy has 100% feedback, that says something.

I don't know, but the tank was priced right in my budget. If the colors don't match, hopefully no one can tell the difference from a mile away, lol
I also think this Australian fairing company offers a good price, but I haven't heard anyone anywhere mentioning them. Maybe they are made in China, who knows.

Which one you ended up buying Kofla?
That orange and black looks pretty good and complete.
Looks identical the the link I posted up, probably from the same source.
In any case, let me know how they stack up Vs OEM parts.

You know the more I look at your bike....I think is would be sweet if you could work that red into it....Maybe do a fade from black to the Red. In my head it looks pretty cool. I don't know how the actual application of it would be....but in my head your bike looks awesome!

Miles, I like the black/red color combination. For that reason I've been trying to add vinyl graphics but no one makes them. And bike painters in my area they charge you an arm and a leg.
