Isle of man TT is my favorite event of the year! Just got done watching all the races on my DVR. Just couldn't stop. The 600s were doing 170-175 this year.

@Kofla - your biggest problem will be finding accomodation, and booking a ferry from Liverpool/holyhead/Dublin/Belfast are your options, probably more regular sailings from England, liverpool, holyhead, heysham, birkenhead,
most hotels and guest houses are re booked the previous year, the Isle of man tourism operate a homeshare scheme, basically some of the islands inhabitants open their homes to visitors, there aint much to see on the island, after all its only 37.7 miles around it!
i doubt there will be a facility to rent a bike on the island, better off tryin in England

Wow, just watched a couple races! Those guys tearing through those 2-lane town streets at over 200mph...their bikes vibrating on the edge of control, wheels barely touching at all...damn, those guys have balls! I'd love to ride that course, no way I'd be at those sppeds, though. Bet I could break 120-130 through most of it, not over those ridiculous bumps and rutted-out curves.

Those guys have balls of steel, yes, but also they are the size of basketballs.
Wow. That makes me cringe, seeing them come outta those turns wobbling at those speeds, and coming off the ground entirely, then coming down.
Must take quite a man to compete on that level. Not only skill and bike, but bravery and fearlessness..
Fatal wrecks are so common, yet they are still addicted to it.
I read an article on John McGuiness in a recent Sportbike article. Now I see what the *fuss* is all about with him having the record speed on that track.

Motero, it is going to be an uphill battle to make this work, but unless things change I am going to try make it happen.
Accomodations: Isle of Man Hotels, B&Bs, Guesthouses, Homestay with friendly island residents
I am subscribed to Motorcycle Classics Magazine, ( I am a Vintage bike fan), and in their January/February edition they ran a great article how to get to the Isle of Man TT, places to visit and where to watch. I know it is a small island, but one of the places I would love to visit is (The A.R.E. Classic Bike Collection) museum. This year I attended a few vintage/classic bike events here in Philly and as soon as I find a garage space I'll probably be starting my (cafe racer/vintage) own little project.

Yea Kola.Chambers and filers and maybe a piston port job.I'm jealous.Rode an H-1 in the rain with a cylinder with a blown head gasket.Lite turned yellow and I downshifted to first and wacked the gas.Oh my God,bike launched in the air tire was spinning so bad it went sideways.First time aboard an H-1.Was just taking it too my buudies girlfriends to be stored.

I wonder if Guy Martin will ever win this thing. Seems he's been near top 13 times, but hasn't won yet.
Its strange how dangerous this race is, at those speeds, and how they just keep coming back, even after very serious wrecks, and so many deaths. Martin was seriously injured in 2010 or 2011, and seemed bent on staying at it.
I would think the thrill that comes with winning, or even coming close to winning would be an amazing rush. A rush that must override the unusually high risk of death or serious injury.
This seems to be just about the most dangerous motosport I can think of. All other racing, like NASCAR and even INDY car racing seem like child's play when compared to danger and speed combinations they face in this race. 200 MPH in a car with a roll cage is one thing. 200 MPH in a bike, with all those curves and corners, that is quite another.

ZX14MAN64; Throw in a start with new cold tires (warmed but still), and they're hitting 170 a foot away from curbs and walls within the first mile. Also having to memorize that long of a track, and deal with all the trees blocking / strobeing the sunlight. They say it takes 3 years racing the circuit before you get the hang of it. Almost 38 miles, and an uncountable number of corners, I can see why.

OMG those pictures of the H1s and H2s bring on the nostalgia. Wish I had never gotten ride of either. Especially since I dragged the H2 from West Point to home and then out to California, and rode it once a week like clockwork to keep it lubed up and the battery charged. Mine was dead stock.

I STILL regret getting rid of mine. A few months ago I found a handful of old pictures of my 1972 H-2.

Lol, me too. But nowadays people want to charge an arm and a leg for them. At the summer vintage show I attended there were a couple of H-1's for sale. Here are a few pics.

I knew this guy who had a blue H-1 just like that one.Think it was a 69 or 70.Made me want to get a Kawasaki.I was trailriding a buddys Bushmaster 100.Thought that bike was great. Then I turned 18 and rented a 71 R5 350.Wow,that bike smoked my buddies 305 Honda Scrambler.I was done with dirtbikes.A year later I had a new Z-1 and the rest was history.
