I think "most" (loose term) of us that own a ZX14 are fairly level-headed when it comes to pulling the trigger on these beasts of the backroads. Especially since these aren't starter sportbikes - 14's are more of a seasoned-riders choice in a ride. Had mine spun to 170 several times on different stretches of highway, but only let it happen at "that moment" -- you know, when the stars are aligned just right as well as the crosswinds are within reason and traffic patterns allow for it and there aren't any CrownVics sitting in the berms. It only takes 10 seconds to run her up into 5th and then back down to 70-75......but riding gets kind of boring afterwards simply because I want to do it more and more often :D
It's like a retard with a vaccuum cleaner......once he figures out what it can do for him, he wants it all the time!!

Makes me wonder why can most modern machines like Bikes n cars be sold legaly to start with when the average machine can smash most speed limits around the world in first or second gear in the first place ,well really it's all about Revenue then isn't it ? especially where theirs already a push in some countries to get rid of them as it's bin proven to cause more accidents then stop them ie in NT since they dropped the open speed limit down to 140 kmph they have had more stacks

I really did buy this for comfort. Not speed. There are no good mid 130-140hp bikes that are comfortable. The only other semi comfortable bike i can think of is the Interceptor, but that has barely 100 HP. I went from a 100 HP superhawk, so i wanted just a little more. I would prefer it to have 40-50 less HP, but that is life.

Honestly....I make my own speed laws. That's not to say...I go koo koo everywhere. But yeah,I ride faster than posted a lot.Not in town.No way.Around traffic...no way.Out on the sweepers...I think I'm Rossi!I can't imagine buying this bike for anything but FAST.Power.Pull.The fact that she rides like glass at virtually any speed is the icing on the cake.If I wanted a cruiser...I'd have bought something that topped out at 100.Just not me.Guess I'm a bad citizen or something.I break the law OFTEN riding.Bottom line. Not stop signs and stuff...but speed...yeah...I do.Probably gonna catch up to me one of these days.

Did you seriously recommend me a 60HP crappy scotter because i feel that 140HP would be fine for me?
I feel that 190 is fine, but i would do just fine also with a 140-150 HP bike that got better fuel economy and was still VERY COMFORTABLE and looked awesome! I could not find another bike other then the Interceptor, but it is WAY slower.
Funny thing, I never feel the need to prove anything when I'm riding this bike. Kinda like the fish on the top of the food chain. He lumbers around while all the small quick fish are flyin around but when he decides to move quick everyone scatters. hehe

my other bike is a Cannondale.
Oh yeah! Your bike may be awesome, fast and cool, but mines earth friendly and gets better gas mileage!

I think you summed it up nicely. Many times, I'm approaching a stoplight and a couple guys in the local sportbike club come roaring past, occasionly pulling stoppies. If I miss anything from my ZX10, its how awesome it's stoppies were.
So I pull up to the light next to them, and you can see their demeaner change slightly. They look over, and I nod. Sometimes I know one of them, and they get a V-wave, down low, sportbike style.
All of a sudden, the blipping and fidgeting has stopped.
Oh yeah, they are intimidated. They can hear her idle through the CT-DUALS, loping and ready to smoke them like rookies. They know I can't hang with them in the backroads, but the backroads are a mile away. And I'd get there 20 seconds before they would.
She might be a whale, but she is a Killer Whale. And they respect it.

I didnt really vote on the poll as I would still have the ZX-14 no matter what. But, I dont really follow the posted highway speed guidelines unless there is an officer around. In fact I think there is a Texas law that says you cant go under 80 on the highway. I do try to keep it down in traffic and streets however.
