VAslim16 - That's a very good price IMO. I bought my non-ABS '13 for $11,500 at Sport Cycles of Rockingham in NC, which was the best price I could find in the SE ... but then had to come home to FL and pay tax/tag/title.
If this one has ABS, even better price

Thanks man...I guess I should pounce on it. Will sell the 6. Can't keep both :)

I am in a similar position as you VA. I just have not been able to pull the trigger. I really want the bike but when I see the KBB trade in value of 2014 zx14r ABS at 7890.00 I just scratch my head. Why do these bikes depreciate so fast? If I were putting 5-10k miles a year I wouldn't care, but I would only use this as a nice day for a ride bike. Maybe 2k a year. Anyway, stay tuned and good luck with your decision. You may see me get off the fence... someday. LOL!

Unlike cars KBB doesn't allow you to input mileage instead providing an expected milage based on engine size. Our bikes are expected to have somewhere around 10-15k miles on them. With motorcycles mileage is less of a factor than age but you'd probably still get a bit more than BV, maybe 8k. Keep in mind, trade-in value is always low it doesn't matter what car you buy. Go buy a Harley, a year later you're [not] going to have a $1000 less trade in value than you paid for it.

Well everyone I just put a deposit down on a 2015 Green and Black model. I'm having a bit of an issue justifying spending the $, but I appreciate all your thoughts. The bike seems incredible...but the 6 is cheaper and keeps me with a lot more cash in the bank haha.

MarkOne - I dunno where KBB is getting that figure, but I'd bet you'd be hard pressed to actually find a nice 2014 ZX14 with reasonable mileage for under $8,000.

That said, new vehicles do tend to depreciate fast in the beginning, then taper off. So, even if you don't ride it much but have it for at least 2 or 3 years, by the time you sell it the used price will likely seem pretty normal for a used bike.

Hey guys well I lost out on the 2015 deal. There is a 2013 ABS that I have located that would be under 11,200 with me paying my own taxes and paperwork. I actually really like the green color and think this is a great deal. Should I worry though about a 2013 sitting that long? Love the responses you've given so please keep them coming!

RE: Should I Pull the Trigger

It would bother me if it had been sitting with ethanol in the tank. Otherwise, no, as long as the price was low enough for an already 2+ year old bike.

And, remember, I paid $11,500 + my own taxes for my 2013 non-ABS in 2014. ABS was $1,000 more, so $12,500 then. So the price of the 2013 ABS you're looking at it is down some from the lowest pricing I was seeing for 2013 models in 2014.

But I always go back to comparing to Sports Cycle of Rockingham, where I got mine, and who puts their bikes on eBay with the consistently lowest prices I've been able to find anywhere, and out-the-door prices at that ... tho you have to go home and pay your taxes. So, here are 2 they have on eBay now:

2015 ABS $11,998 green/black http://www.ebay.com/itm/141936224749

2015 ABS $11,998 gray?/green grills http://www.ebay.com/itm/131761269084

Knowing you can get a '15 for $11,998, I personally don't think $800 less is enough for a 2+ year old bike ... but you have to decide how much off is enough. Remember, that bike is currently their problem to try to figure out how to sell ... it's been 2+ years, and they still haven't been able to sell it.

All that said, and having looked at plenty of used ZX14 pricing, I guess I like about $10,500 max for it. And get them to include your 1st set of new tires (brand and model specific, otherwise they might give you Shinko's - ugh) and first service (oil change etc). Their cost is less for those so they can feel good about it since they have a high value for the rider.

I almost rode mine down to Richmond today for the week, I'm sure we could have worked out a deal. Why did the deal fall through?

Toledo...I'm out of the country right now and my dad, who normally could check stuff out and buy for me, is as well. Bummer we couldn't work something out. Deal fell through when I couldn't get cash ready to cut a check and have it sent by end of the month. Dealer did refund my deposit though which was cool of them. Still, I'm out on the bad arse price from before. :)

Ha thanks DuPont...seems like the same for me. Just need to figure out how to get there as it's kinda far away. The fact that it's a '13 wouldn't bother you?

Well guys looks like I've found my ride. 2013 leftover I am hoping to get for 11,000 from a dealer and then will pay my own paperwork fees. Seems like a pretty good deal...just hope the bike is okay sitting that long. Thanks for your insights!

Sitting with no gas would be best. If there is, gas then it sitting in a controlled environment would be best. It'll prob be fine. Make sure to ride it before the deal is a done deal, to make sure.

Oh, and ... Congrats! Post pics once ya get it!

My main concern would be scratches from people sitting on it if it was a floor model. 11k would be an awesome deal. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks guys. I have been assured by the dealer that the bike is in good shape. No fuel in it yet and battery hasn't been service. I am also looking at the Honda F6C. Totally different bike but I find it intriguing for sure.

...well, not opposite but different. That's a Goldwing? A sporty goldwing---I think that's a great idea --but I'd still go with a 14. If you want a bike that does it all, the 14 is the ticket.

Hey guys finally an update...I was looking at all kinds of bikes including the Honda F6C and F6B. I ultimately decided on the 14R. Just put a deposit down on a 2015 at your place E...Sport Cycles in Rockingham. I'm happy with getting it for 10.998 OTD. Waiting ended up being a good thing in this case. Looking forward to the bike and to being on these boards alot.

Excellent! Looking forward to seeing it and any mods you do to it.

I like that deal: 2 years newer and 2 bucks less!

Well good. If you see a cop waiting outside I wouldn't be surprised because you stole that. Almost sad to see these bikes selling for such shit prices because at this point doesn't seem any reason for Kaw to keep making them.

Well I guess I can hope maybe in a couple years 10Rs will have better paint schemes.

I heard the 016 ZX-10 is no good for anything but the track and some said they still prefer the previous gen for that. So you might get a zx-10 cheap enough that you won't want to bother trading in the 14R.

Hey guys yeah I am pretty pumped. It will be about 11,500 when I get back to my home state and pay tax and tag...but still seems like a good deal. They are giving me 7500 for my trade also which I think is a decent price. Will post pics for sure when I get it home. Will be in about 3 weeks. Can't wait.
