KAK, I've done a few high speed runs since and all I can get outta of it is a little over 10700 RPM. Seems like I use to get a little faster (pull rev limiter)in 6th gear. I think it has everything to do with not having the fairings on it and "wind resistance" than ram air induction. I've put my hand in front of one of the tubes at about 110 before and there is a lot of air being "rammed" into those tubes at speed. I've also blocked off all the little holes inside the frame "air box" area.

Did you know there are little holes in the air box frame area? There is. I really don't think my engine is lacking air flow or ram air pressure, but I do think I am pushing a hell of a lot of air without the fairings.

fairings move a lot of air out of the way.........

Just waiting for the ECU to come back from being flashed and some Hel front and rear SS brake lines to arrive and that should pretty much be it.

Racerx, my understanding is the 14's fairing/bodywork is designed to allow the bike to reach a higher top speed. The exposed parts will increase drag.
A few years ago I considered downgrading to a Ninja 1000. It had the same motor as the "naked" Z1000 but had a higher top speed due to the fairing/bodywork. I came to my senses and kept my 14.

I saw a group of four, with a black ZX14R heading north whilst I was stopped about 10.15. I left shortly after and caught up but they went north when I turned off towards Mangrove Mountain and Wisemans Ferry.

I think I just missed you then!! I saw about 6 ZX14s in my loop yesterday.

Got to get together for a ride sometime...

I rarely have weekends off and last weekend was just a moment of opportunity. Being a shift worker, I usually ride during the week with work mates but despite the extra law enforcement presence and traffic, it was great being out and about with hundreds of other bikes and bikers.

But I'll try and let you know next time and see if you're about and meet up.

Just came back from a 2 day Oxley ride myself.
But no photographers out there unless they are the ones you don't want...
Bike is now washed, cleaned, lubed and ready for the next one.
Plus I just dropped her off this afternoon for a major service plus valve check as well.

My brother's ZX12/14/????R
Not happy with the '06 ZX14 ergonomics and missing his ZX12R he built his own using a much modified ZX12 frame and modded ZX14 motor. Amazing bike to ride - nimble handling for such a large bike and sooooo much power!
