A shop near me in MI does great work on car wheels. I'd imagine they can do a bike wheel.
They can fix anything, but they don't refinish.

Looks as bad as mine, any further damage, front axle, triple clamps, fork tubes?

I've checked everything closely, measured, inspected, and I'm not seeing anything else out of whack. I'm told that the Marchesini wheels are "soft" and bend easily.

I'd use a repaired wheel but I think it would take some extra caution. Aluminum stretches on one side and compresses on the other when it's bent. Bend it back and now it's fatigued in the damaged spot. I'd take pics of exactly where it was bent just in case it gets bent again. Throw it in the trash if it does. Also, don't use a tire iron on the damaged spot.

Hey Grn, sounds cool but they won't let us smoke a cigar on the patio at Starbucks here anymore, I thought it was a nationwide policy?
I heard you got your first big ticket awhile back, what was the final outcome on that one?

This Forum would be blown up if I started a thread about every ticket I get!

Yeah..........I was .uhhhh...sorta putting 2 and 2 together and guessing it might have been a sizable ticket. Glad that didn't take the wind out of your sails too much.
LOL one thing about modding, I spend a lot less time riding the bike! Not much chance of getting tickets with the bike out of commission. It sorta balances out.

Grn did you keep the points off your record? I turned mine over to a ticket attorney and they set a court date in November, so this is taking a long time. In the meantime I'm scared to go fast, I can't afford another one, it's not the money it's the points that will get you. Don't have a clue how this is all going to turn out, I hope we don't get a hard ass judge.

Hmmm Hubster, I was pulling the front wheel off my ZX-10R this afternoon, identical setup to the 6R and found the identical issue, front axle bolt would turn easy for one half a turn and then tighten up, then loosen again. Felt identical to the 6R and the 10R has never hit anything so I doubt it has any kind of bent axle. Don't have a theory yet on why the both act the same way but as I recall, they always have been this way. I'm changing the 14 front tire next and will see if it does the same thing as the setup is also the same. I'm beginning to think it is related to how I leave the left pinch bolts tight to lock the axle nut in place and then loosen the right pinch bolts and back the axle out. I don't see how this could affect anything but who knows?

I think the clamping action creates a slight distortion, the axle is a hollow steel tube and the clamp is not a perfect circle, slightly eccentric. I think it's most likely normal.

"I think the clamping action creates a slight distortion"...no...I don't think so...tightened to spec...no way IMO.Hollow,yes...stout...yes....how do you know the clamp is 'slightly eccentric'...just asking at a tech level...not a jab or anything.;)
Not to change the topic or anything...but I really believe my right side leaking seal issue was due to a misalignment(tiny)of the axle. Not something you would even think of probably...but just enough to create a virtually non detectable gap between the seal surface and the inner fork tube surface(when tightened up).Tightening the axle according to the manual...all that...IMO is CRITICAL to everything associated with the forks, action, and sealing properties of the tubes....just thought I'd throw that in there since we're talking about forks and axles and such.Since I really installed the fork per the book CAREFULLY this time...the leaking is gone...and the install of the axle and all was perfectly smooth and factory simple. All parts slid right in without any hint of binding or whatever.
I could see a hit like you took Kruz COULD possibly jar the clamps and all just a teensy bit...COULD cause a weird frontend issue.

I have a micrometer I can use to check for out of round but I'm not really motivated enough right now to take it back apart.
Unless KHI line bored that clamp hole with it pinched down to spec torque. I doubt seriously it's perfectly round...just sayin.
I'll do my 14's front tire next week and check for out of round of the axle spindle and clamp bore. It wouldn't take much, maybe a thousandth to get the slight bind as you back it out.
