Maybe an IPO is coming.

Maybe we need to quit talking about these things until after the public offering.

I think older, more mature guys would just shrug it off.

Exactly what I did with my SpeedCell battery (shrugged it off).

Thanks for bringing this battery to our attention, Kruz! -bg

Absolutely.

I got a Speed Cell from Dubious.

It was not strong, it didn't work in the cold, and it went dead on me far too often. Too much of a hassle to re-load my crankin' Jeffo map all the time <grin>. (Now why did I bring that up again? Sorry.)

It went dead on me at Miller one evening while the Michelin guy was installing a new set of tires for me. He had to walk the bike all the way back to our garage. -bg

I think Rook is going to pop for an 18 amp-hour for his 14, that 9 lb weight savings will make his bike just that much faster, let's see how long he can resist!

Maybe after I watch the calendar girls a couple more times. I like the one on the left and I don't even mind the Michael Jackson music.

give ME a break! They're all hot as hell. just that far from perfect. I sort of thought you'd go for the one on the right though. Hey, any or all---I'b a happy man but I guess I will have to settle for a friggin battery instead.

Not yet. This one is a no brainer. The only thing holding me back is that my stock battery isn't a goner yet. Somefun up there is doing a LSR event this Spring. I bet he may be in.........speaking of being in, I wonder if Shorai would give us a group buy???? Why not email him, Kruz? You need more batteries?

BG, is this something we could do through the forum, order a bunch of these batteries at one time and get a killah deal?

I'd pick up another, for the GF's zzr... and maybe one for my buddies gen 3 10r... but I think it'll be tough to get better prices than I already got from Superbike Supply.

There sure is a lot of resistance to these batteries for some reason.... I am very thankful you guys are posting up this info. I can't justify buying a new battery when my stocker is perfect, but when the time comes, I have no inclination to buy a heavy, large, outdated battery!

Thanks again guys!

I think a lot of guys jumped on the lightweight lithium bandwagon, bought the A123 packs and got burned. They worked but they were expensive and apparently had narrow operating parameters as BG and Romans have pointed out. This was OK for race use but for street they got a bad rap. The new Shorais are a whole new game and a completley different product but a lot of the guys are taking a wait and see attitude. So far I'm stoked, the only real question left to answer is how will they hold up over the next few years? I'll be honest with ya, I hopped in first and bought one cause I've been having absolutely terrible luck with lead/acids lately. I figured almost anything would be an improvement and so far they are.

Kruz:

I'd sure be willing to do whatever I can to make this happen. Do you have an email address that I can use to get ahold of somebody there?

I tried to get something going with Brock's a while back, but his dealer margins are very low and he couldn't give us anything better than dealer pricing, which appeared to be very close to the online prices I was seeing.

It's worth asking about, though... -bg

If our stock battery is rated at 200 cold cranking amps and the Shorai 18A1 cranks out 270 Cold cranking amps and the guys here tell you the Shorai Battery turns faster,,,,, I would think it's no "Gimmick". 20% faster is not much of a reach.

Not to mention what temperature the online guys here have been testing the Shorai. Extreme to say the least, I'm sure there is not to many bikers that ride at zero F .

Good info here with pics & videos to match. The members above spent there time to make these so you can see for yourself and would not have to go by Vendor hype. No Gimmick that's for sure. Bank on it.

I knew from the second I turned over the big girl with the Turntech it was not up to the job and was a track use only item. But,,,,,, U know. Lead with your wallet LOl

In the case of the Shorai, I also know this Bad Boy is more than capable. Believe it. 18A1 may even be over kill. But after what happened last time I'm very happy with my choice of the 18A1.

DZINURZZ, this is the real deal, sweet 4 sure. Five Star. If your in the market for a new Batt this one is worth a look. Cheers

Just thinking out loud here. I'm starting to get curious about the Shorai LFX14A2-BS12 which is over 3oz lighter than the Shorai 14A that is recommended for our bike. The smaller 14Amp would be > half a pound lighter than the 18Amp Shorai that you guys are using. I believe the terminals are reversed on the small 14A so I'm not quite sure how one would deal with that. Maybe simply turn the battery around.

They're the same polarity, Rook... so, no issue there.

LFX14A2-BS12

LFX14A1-BS12

The A2 is 0.22 lbs, or 3.52 ozs, lighter than the A1.

Every last piece of foam (with adhesive backing still on) sent with a #1 cased Shorai weighs 0.138 lbs, or 2.208 ozs...

So, going with the smaller #2 cased Shorai will definitely save a little more weight.

It's your choice...

Too bad they do not make an 18ah in a #2 case.

I guess we are really sota splitting hairs over a couple ounce or three if you need to stuff the compartment with more foam--

If the stock battery tray is held in place by those 2 short pegs that adjoin that silver bracket right under the compartment cover and two more pegs on the tray that point toward the inside of the bat compartment----------------- is it necessary to use any foam? Seems to me we should be able to replace the stock bat strap with a short bungee. As long as the tray is held in place by the pegs and the battery is held with a short bungee, that should make everything stay put. Or am I misunderstanding how the tray is fastened in there?

No, you got it. You could probably even get away with just sticking the battery to the factory tray with strong double sided tape or some heavy duty Velcro.
