Im with the quarter thing, is it gonna be in TDOT or state side I wanna come and watch and maybr even make a few runs myself! Sounds like somebody needs to bring the grill and beer too.

If you guys are going to do a direct comparison then you need to send it to a true drag pilot. "Seat of the pants" can't detect small differences in power and delivery. 10 passes with X ecu and 10 passes with Y ecu with an average of each group taken. Anything besides tenths and hundredths of seconds recorded with precision instruments will be useless and bias. On a good day I can put down 10 passes within a half a tenth of each other. Unless you guys are planning on putting one of your 14Rs on a NEUTRAL dyno and only swap the ECU between runs. I can show you time tickets from a Don Guhl flash. :)

What's up Maverick. You are a wizzard of speed. I think the idea here is beast and I are evenly matched in throttle hand. We're riding the same bike and making observations.

Hey Romans, I haven't had time to get my ecu in the mail. I will ship it out on Friday.

For anyone thinking about having there ecu flashed I can tell you Romans is a great guy to deal with. When I first contacted him I didn't even know where my ecu was located or what it looked like. He has been more then patient with me and has answered any questions I've had and always returns emails within a day. Other than C, I haven't heard anybody say a poor thing about the man or his work.

Romans thanks for the pics...it's about time someone posted a pic without there middle fingers up in the air. You are the class of the field.

WOW,is it Canada day/4th of july fireworks, any how C slow down,I said before with respect, you have a really smooth torque curve.Your hp was std not sae corrected, that will raise the numbers,my dyno tune was done at Hindle exhaust,my numbers are good .Lang Hindle manufactures pipes for Brock Davidson if he claimed bad numbers people would crucify him.IF I flash Romes will get my business, he's only 30 minutes away.I wish you two would work together and not against.Shit your west he's east concentrate on the 14 .The only way you guys can prove any difference would be two flashes same bike ridden by same rider at an altitude half way between yours and Romes

What's up Darryle,
You running a Romes Flash? I thought you were. We can duplicate the same rider by using a gps, a closed circut course and timed runs. In the saddle impressions count too. Dyno wars too might be interesting. We have three months to think about it, plan and include Romes and c in the plan. Beast and I are providing the time and the bikes and doing the write up. A few sponsors might be cool too!

Blkcasper Wrote;

1st Ride with Ro,ams Flash

Ok guys im back. Took a while to get issues sorted out but Here's my review with Romans Flash. I put over 350 miles in the last few days testing her out. 190 on the sunday street ride, 100 miles on my normal cummute to work, and the rest just playing around ...

My setup. 2012 zx14, 18,075k on the clock, quick turn throttle, fly's removed, pair block off, two brothers slip ons with db1 sound tips, PC5 with map switch and(allows me to switch between 2 maps in PC5) customem map with 200 hp 118 ft trq, Lowered 2 inches front and rear, 8 inch stretch. a host of cosmetic goodies, and Pilot road 3 tires. When she goes in in the next few weeks, for valve adjustment, new pluggs, filter, oil change, i'll get some dyno numbers and compare then to what i already have.

Got ECU late on a staurday nite 12/28/13. Ok so first switched PC5 to zero map. Installed Romans flashed ECU( [size=200]yes we had to get a new ecu from Kawasaki). Bike fires up and she sounds a litter meaner than before..those that have the two brothers know how boomey they sound. She has more of a high pitch sound to her.... Ok all goood. Let her idle and warm up, twist the throttle and she seems to rev a bit faster than normal.. Okk all good.

Sunday morning 12/28/13 my track buddys call and say lets do a year end ride. I'm like perefect. Great way to test her out. we have some great roads here up in the valley springs/sonara hills. Long sweeping curves, tight 20-40 mile s-turns, rolling hills, ect... lets do this. its been a while. All guys in the group do 4 -8 track days on average together so were comftable with each other....

Note: While the zx14 was down i've been riding my track/street 06 zx10. She's no slouch euther. under 400lbs and a true 180+ hp/86 ft trq to rear wheel.

I have about a 20 minunite ride to the meet up spot.So i'm testing her out..She revs up from low rpms so much faster,so much smoother fom 2k to 6k rpms.. i'm like this is gonna be fun.
Ok so sunday we meet up . About 15 of us. Tempeture when rolling out was a slightly wet 45 degrees, frost still burning off the roads.. After getting out of town the holigasin starts.. Wheelies abound and the roads are dry and good. Weather heats up to about a cool dry 65 degrees, can't wait till summer to really put the power down.
I'm useing full power traction controll set to 1...need a safety net..LOL...switched modes on the fly to turn traction controll off.. didn't notice any real diffrence in acelaration other that i could spin the rear wheel easier and longer before traction control cut in.

1st part of the ride, long straits to rolling sweepers. Rolling along at tripple digit speeds in second and third gear, look down and i'm in second gear 7k-8k rpm showing on the clock, ok heres a good strait, pin the throttle, rear squats front gets light and she rockets forward, snatch third ...rear spins a bit front gets light again and she pulls well past 11k rpms before I gotta brake for the next corner..WOW...SO smoth ....Corners i would normally down shift for, i can just leave in a higher gear, rpms drop into the 2k-3k range and i can just powre out, wheel spinning and front end getting light. She pulls so hard and so strong from down low that i find myself short shifting and still running hard....use to her hitting rev limit at 10.9k....extra revs to 11.5k make a huge diffrece when running hard.

ok so when running in the real tight twisty stuff 20 - 40 mph posted corners the throttle respnse is so smooth down low now and easy to modulate i can basically put her in second or third gear and just roll, using throttle control, where before i would down shift into 1st gear and keep the rpms up. Never had enough strait to get out of 4th gear, but at a buck sixty plus any 1/2 mile strait would be short.

Ok so in my opinion, where this flash shines is in the low to mid range. 2k - 6k rpms...we all know on top in stock and slightly modified form she's an ouragest beast above 8k rpms. tooling along in 6th gear at 80 mph roughly 7k rpm and pinning throttle there is no lag, she just squats a pulls forward like no tommarrow as long as you have clear road ahead of you..before there was a lag until she hit about 8k rpm then all hell broke loose...LOL.
So in closing. Romans flash adresses the issues i had.
1). feeling slow reving in the lower rpms 2k-5k. and also feling a step down in power when getting out of the throttle.
2). able to now switch traction control modes on the fly.
3). revs to 11.5k rpms... over rev is a wonderful thing
4). can possible get rid of PC5.. in my opinion PC5 will never go away... easier to make fueling changes when modifying bike, changing pipes, ect, without sending ecu to be re-programmed, if its not done on a dyno.
5), top end rush is also aswome..
6). for a base setup its hard to beat...dare i say it but its true, its sooo smooth and builds power so easily, that unless running at stupid speeds and banging on it, its sooo smooth it can feel boring to ride fast,,LOL.

Guys brought this over from other thread As I wanted All Woolich users to know the Cali ECU Bin file is Clean and now available for all to use. I purchased New ECU here Toronto and had it flown in. From that point performed Three clean reads from the new ECU to be sure all was perfect. Check check, recheck. Justin Proof read, and now all the files are uploaded onto his site for All to use. Hope this helps. Here is to hoping that sad story never happens to anyone else.

Special Thank You Goes out To Blkcasper for his outstanding patients letting Justin and I work through this. Much Respect.

That first pic shows an 0712, which obviously doesn't work in the 15 part no. And in your description of it available for all it is a : 21175-0715

When tuning, attention to detail never hurts.

No worries, I just did not understand what you were sayin. It sounded as though the #12 bin file was the corrupted file.

Well i have the utmost respect for Romans, he stepped up big time. keep me in the loop with all things and info and conversations with woolrich to get the problem fixed. If i wasn't confident or felt good about what was going on with the issues with the flash I would have just asked for a new ECU unflshed and went on about my buisnss. Well the wait was well worth it. Actually a lot of people may benifit. A good and correct bin file has been uploaded and verified by woolrich for all to use. I got what i wanted out of a flashed ECU.

Put another 300 plus miles on my baby this weekend. 45-60 degree weather. She perferms stellar..I love the low end response for the roads we ride. Its kinda hard to explain how hard and quick she spools up from 3k rpm and pulls well past 11k rpm.

Here's an idea of how she pulls...take in mind that i'm lowered 2" ft/r stretched 8+ inches, I'm a small guy about 5ft 10 inches, 180 suited, going thru a 50 mph sweeper corner in 3rd gear at about 70mph 6k rpm..hit the apex pull her up strait pin it, shift into 4th and pull to 160 mph before bouncing of the rev limiter frt wheel just hovering the whole way..... LOL... what a rush... Not enough strait to hit 5th,LOL.....

My actuall gas milage has also increased about 3-4 miles per gallon. The Roman's flash is good..Its very good.

Here is the link to ECU Flashing products for ZX14R for those of you wanting to flash the ECU yourself rather than paying someone else for a one off generic tune, you will gain the ability to improve the tune of your bike as you make changes, and all for less than what some people are charging for a single send in flash...

We also have MapShares available which allow you to subscribe to and download other Woolich Racing customers tuned bin files. Makes it really simple to tune your bike yourself by Flashing your ECU https://www.woolichracing.com/MapShare/kawasaki/zx14r/kawasaki-zx14r-ecu-flashing-tuned-maps/

Another nice write up Casper. I lowered my rear 2" with a link and lowered the front 1" by raising the forks thru the tree. I would like to lower the front another 1" but am afraid. How did you lower your front 2" and do you have any problems with it that low? Thanks again for the write ups!
