Brocks Exhaust /PC
03/28/13 5:18 PM

Hey guys, I bought a new 2011 zx14 back in January after I finally recovered from my R1 dumping me. 2700 miles later I start itching for a new exhaust and instead of buying the usual slip on, I really want to spend some money on Sharonda and get the full package. I love the duel exhaust, and come to find out that Brocks is the only manufacture of a full system like that; its expensive, but me like-y-lots. Does anyone have experience with this system? My maintenance experience on sport bikes is limited; is it easy enough to "do it yourself"? Does a full system create problems with the engine and require a tuning? There is also a Power Commander 5 on the website which I know very little about but seems pretty legit. Is it required for the exhaust to function at its max? Do Power Commanders need professional's to operate? Any help will be appreciated; I would like to make the most informed decision possible considering how much money it all costs. Thanks again for the advise.

i installed the ct duals on mine. total system weighs in at right around 8 lbs. not too bad at all to install just follow the directions that comes with it, also what I did was pulled the radiator (makes the install much easier) and I wanted to put in engine ice anyways. Power commander is an easy install also and brocks will supply you with the necessary maps for your bike and you dont have to be a puter wiz to get the maps to the pc5

I agree with Scott. Its not that hard putting on the dual system yourself.

My suggestions are to be VERY careful when removing your fairing work. Those pieces have some small tabs that will break off if you look at em wrong. Read up on what piece is to be pulled what direction before even starting.

Be careful with the radiator. If he take it off, or loosen it and slide it forward to give you room, either way, be very careful and deliberate with every move you make putting the header on. Smashed radiator fins so easy to do without even realizing it.

Also, putting the header nuts back on the bolts and getting them properly torqued can be rough, as some of the middle ones are hard to get to.

Other than that its a breeze! LOL

Good luck and be careful.

I read through your tutorial, Rook, and I must say, I am way to lazy to remove all the extra stuff; it looks complicated enough as it is. But then again, everything will already be removed anyway. Thanks for the tips and the how-to's, I will be ordering it next week and hopefully will not break anything during the installation. In the aircraft maintenance world we have a saying, "You never have time to do it right, but you always have time to do it over". I'll hit up the newbie's guide to faring removal and if I have any questions I will certainly ask. Will I need any special tools, beyond a basic vehicle mechanic toolkit, screwdrivers, and a torque wrench?

Everyone has a heck of a time getting the main wiring harness conectors apart. I used a bottle opener to help with that. It's covered in the tutorial. All you can do is pull over and over with the catch pressed. it will come apart a hair at a time.

Also the coolant reservoir is reccommended as the the site to ground thwe PC but many have had problems with that unless they reinforce it with some special hardware.. The plastic bottle is not good for keepinf a tight gripc on the eylet. I would use the ground screw I indicate in my tutorial. It is on the left subframe section. sorry i can't type. At my Mom's computer and her keys have thr letters worn off. LOL

You just can’t beat the sound of the Brock’s full dual system, blaring out with that deep throaty sound. Sounds great and makes you feel like you hold the power of thunder, itself in your hand, as you twist the throttle.

(excuse the dramaticizm. I could have gotten even more sappy and said *wield the power of thunder*).
