Step By Step Flies Removal For More Power
07/06/11 6:18 PM

So I removed my flies today and i was going to make my own tutorial but decided against it because my camera is being retarded and wont upload my pics. I found the one im posting here today and i wanted to share it with everyone but im going to add a few notes to make it easier. 1. You do not need to remove the whole fuel tank just the vent tube towards the back of the bike youll see it when you remove the seat. after you remove the four bolts holding the tank on bend the tab on the bottom of the left side of the tank and remove the wires that the tab is holding now you should be able to move the tank to the left or right so you can remove the covers leading to the flies. 2. DO NOT attemt to just unscrew the screws it WILL NOT work what i did is i took a bic lighter and heated the tip of the screwdriver for 40 seconds then immediatly pressed the screwdriver to the screw, with slight pressure hold it there for 20 seconds gently twist and it should break free. I used 1/4 rachet with extensions and phillips bit for more leverage. The images explain the rest hope this helps some people good luck! This whole thing took me about thirty minutes and i had to stop to poop. http://www.zxforums.com/forums/zx-14-forum/7500-flies-out-picture-guide.html

I believe our site has had a few posts (understatement) for well over a year on this subject. SEARCH will find plenty of information here already.

The problem with the early bikes were more a passing problem if you want to narrow down the sub-lag. You would need to stab a few gears down to up the rpm. This would open the sub so you could have that sub kind of move out of the way for the faster event to happen.

Those guys are scratching their head on the first page about air speed and do not see it on their same old yammy. What the later bikes did was more match the main plate and the bike now has that faster event so it feels sub-less. Guess what? That sub, I could not believe it myself; pounded the gearbox smoother than with plate removed.

It was so tiny a move but you sub-removers are missing it. You have a shitty gearbox shift withose removed. And with those removed, I'm going to throw that finger at you like you keep fucking up a free gearbox enhancer = Subs!

I removed mines last week and boy was it brutal. I followed everyone's tips. I even bought a Husky #2 and Kobalt #2. Heated the screw drivers with a torch and used a soldering iron just to make sure. Only 4 of the 8 came out with no problem. Fortunately I bought some screw extrators called "Grab Its". They were a life saver. Even still, I had to dremel one of the screws. Regardless, I can say that the ATRE I have is pretty dead on with the feel of the flies out. I didn't notice much of a difference of my ATRE in hard mode compared to the flies out, so didn't need to adapt to the throttle response.
