Silver, I've owned an '08. No matter the bike/car, either I gain on them or it's no match. Let's look at this as both bikes have a given hp and a given torque. There is no way the honda has 114 pounds of torque the 14 is rated at. The honda has what, 80'ish torque? Say high 80's so we for argument sake, lets rate the honda at the low 90's in torque output.

Lets keep putting both bikes together as one turns out to be bone stock. Add the mix together, where it is the 'world's most powerful production bike' and the nod goes to kawi, not a bluebird model. So, @ 60 mph and in 6th gear, I'm going to be too low in the torque value to match the torque of the honda.

If I kick it down to 5th, I'm going to start gaining ground, the honda got the jump.
If I in 4th, I am closer to the bike's powerband that's exceeding the torque value of the honda @ 60/60 mph.
If I pull the clutch in and act as if I am at a dead stop at the christmas tree at the 1320, I might get a holeshot.
If I add all that up vs. the other rider = I see no problem the world's fastest takes that honda with a nice [turtle] sunk throttle body, it would really insult that rider on the honda.

If you take the time, you can loose 90-100 lbs off the Gen1 ZX-14. Will cost you a lot of $ too so you can replace parts with lighter aftermarket stuff. Lots of stuff, yu can just take off with no need to replace. Maybe 30 lbs worth. Some day I'm going to finish off my weight reduction mods analysis. I've weighed everything. Just haven't added up all the #s yet.

Do you like the bike, Silver? Does it fit you? if so, you can mod it to be whatever you want. there is no sportbike that does everything but like yanih said, the 14 ticks all the boxes and does exceptionally well off the line and way up top. I don't know if you will find a sportbike that will be everything you expect in stock form. I'd say you have a good stsable between you and the two boys. I know you hate to be a bad influence, but that 10r will turn the tables in a hurry when it gets wound up. Tell the kid to find out about the "wire mod" and you will have a whole different bike. The midrange is restricted in the US all because of one little wire. snip.

I would have to say the most fun bike I have owned was a 2004 Aprilia RSV 1000. The RSV
had razor sharp handling, and the Rotax V-Twin had great usable power.

Sil, Vic and BOSS pretty much said you are going to loose, if you are trying to grab 7th gear and 65 mph is almost there. So imagine a high revving engine @ 60 mph/lighter/plays out up top, where yours is a 200 mph bike and no 1000 is hitting 200 without warming it over some, right?

So like C said, 'too many variables.' Whereas, I was still rolling on, but a little clutch action says, what rpm variable where you in? And, we keep adding up the variables, what gear where you in? Where the variables continue and what rpm where you shifting at? And the variables keep coming, can you holeshot your opponent I didn't hear any rpm change at the WOThell where you thinking?

That's a 2009 ape over here. V-Twin smooth, yes? Everything on that bike outperforms any japanese bike, yes, Silver? Wheelies if you nail it hard. Had 2 more gears left over on the freeway, I was never looking for gear, right? Handled like a dream. Better electronics with a failure of a winker bulb icon flashes on the dash and tells you which side to look at. The trackday time clock mode.

And when I got off that bike I would laugh. I couldn't wait to get back on the 14 with some real power under me. Either this bike is scaring you or you are still waiting for the faster bike from the factory. Either you see speed is relative and you'd laugh getting on a Z-1 opening up that bike, let alone the handling those had when they became race bikes, known as 'Superbikes.'

That's why the 14R is long in the tooth. Cash waiting.

Man with his set up ther is no way will you ever win a roll-on. Un less you do some modes.

1). With the lower gearing that he has, he is always in the meat of his power bad where his bike is making the most power. I have an 06 ZX10 setup the same way with my mods pushing 180 + to the rear wheel. Any roll on If i'm in 1-3 gears I will break out and its a catch up race to 150 if there's enough road, after that the big bikes catch up.

2. the ZX14 aint anywhere near close to its power band unless you cruzing around in 1st gear. She's not gonna make up that power until your above 6k and have some mods. Lower gearing, flash ect. Twist that fuchin rist and pin it.

3. If your talking about keepin up in the twistys pretty much forget about it if he's a real good rider. If its wide open sweepers and straights you can hang. Real tight and tisty stuff say good buy. Too big of a weight diffrence.

4. Same with the zx10r.. Very tall geering in 1-3...gotta wind that thang up in a lower gear. Hondas also come with lower gearing set up stock to maxamize mid range torque and power.

I'm not scared of the power at all, I've done WOT in gears 1-5. I'm just mighty disappointed in
how it performed against my son's CBR. I've been riding motorcycles for over 35 years, and thought
I finally had the King Kong of Bikes.

Well, we are not even close. You wear the heavier tires, not the OEM that came with it. The 10lbs. between you two is call it even. He's semi flashing the bike with the zbomb; the gearing is way off if we are going to apple to apple race, then the pc, because you may have left out a pipe? Where are we at power to weight?

Body boys = Even
Rocket bike minimum fairing work vs. a top end fairing with flair blades at the bottom? = Heavier.
You bought used and if the previous owner did not buy the OE tires @ $300ea. = Heavier.
You are running bone stock and you can Ivan a hit like his zbomb = Down on tune vs. tune.
You are bone stock fuel trim and he's on a map for said (alleged) pipe = Down on tune vs. tune.
You are going to get smoked you don't feel the difference in a gear change = Don't even go there.

And now it's not the rider.

Silverback I know what your saying only cause my 10R I had I could leave anything bigger than me with no issue! Had niggas trippin lmao! However once I maxed out (pretty damn quick) they flew by like I never took off ..
While that was fun beating busa's and 14's them lil bitched are uncomfortable as hell!
And tell the sin with the 10R all he needs is a flash and slipon (don't really need the slipon) and will murder the both of u! And still have a gear to spare !
