Gen 1 vs Gen 2
11/16/12 12:10 PM

Does anyone know what it will take to get a 2006-2011 zx14 to or beyond the 2012 zx14R? I want to accomplish this without going into the engine and without nitrous. I shooting for 200 rear wheel horse power.
I am currently negotiating for a 2007 black and a 2009 burnt orange with full voodoo exhaust,$6500 and $8000 respectively.

Thanks

I could be wrong but without touching the engine or NOS. No way Jose. With the right mods and 0 W oil you could get close to a bone stock 14R but 200 hp at the rear wheel is a pipe dream in my opinion. I just got Ivan website and I saw close to 185 with an Akrapovic full system. It isn't bad considering how light the first generation will be.

Good full system, throttle bodies bored out to 47mm and custom map will give you high 180's.You will need head work and higher compression to get into the 190's.These mods and race fuel will net mid to high 190's.With these mods, lighter battery and rims going up against a piped mapped 2012 the outcome will be up to rider skill

2012 14R,full hindle Evolution ,vortex rear sets,BST's with ceramic bearings,HID's,hyper pro damper and custom map 205.3 hp/120.2 torque

According to the video on utube, the 2011 is very close to the 2012? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWuTR0sa4Xg
How much rear wheel power does the 2012 have. Does the slight difference justify the dollar cost?

20 hp is not a slight difference. As far as the money issue, it depends of you value of $. Myself there is no application for which I can justify splurging on 15k machine. I don't drag race. If you're in a higher tax bracket don't think twice just get it. For drag racing duty I would just get something with 30 k on it and get in the motor.

Oh and I think a 1st generation 14 with 195 hp will spank a stock 14R all day (rider being equal). the power/weight ratio and the absence of any safety mode should make a huge difference.

06 07 were 550 wet ,2012 585 wet.195 hp on an 06 07 will spank a stock 2012 @192 hp.My 07 with BST rims weighed in at 502 lbs.With BST rims and shorai battery my 2012 is about 525 lbs.The 07 had a Hindle/Brock S-meg the 2012 has a Hindle evolution.My 07 with a custom map is 184,my 2012 is 205 with a custom map.The 2012 is much faster.I was both pissed and happy watching my 2012 pull away from me on my 07

No argument there mods for mods it's not fair.

I think the 06-07 have 5 more hp than the 08-11. the 08-11 are also a tad heavier.

Well...It might be in my best interest to wait until the 2012's go on sell and buy it. It appears that it will be the alpha bike bone stock; even when other bikes have been severely modified.
Sounds like a plan...
