Another noob.
08/17/14 11:39 PM

Hello all.

First post and thought I'd introduce myself. Just picked up an '06 ZX14 with 54,000kms that I found of craigslist. I have a few bike including an '81 KZ1000 police bike that I've done into a nice little rat/café, an '81 Goldwing that my family restored, a '67 Kawi J1Tl that my son and I are restoring, an '07 Versys that's for sale now and of course my new to me ZX14.

I was looking for a while to replace the Versys for a more sport touring bike and came upon this one listed at $5500 cdn. A couple weeks went by and the owner dropped the price to $4500. This prompted an email and a visit to look at the bike. I took my wife who is a bike fan as well and we both thought it was a great bike. The owner was selling due to a spinal disease so I really didn't feel like talking him down in price, bad karma. ;-) A couple days later and a test ride sealed the deal and home I rode with my new bike. The PO even knocked off $100 due to a worn rear tire even though we didn't ask.

Some of the options that helped seal the deal were as follows.
Full muzzy pipe.
Hindle muffler.
PC.
Pazzo levers.
Puig wind screen.
PMR drag racing lanyard kill switch.
Centre stand.
Ram mount.
3/4" risers.
Givi bags and racks.
KN filter.
Olin's internals for the suspension.
2-12v outlets.

Here are some pics and thanks for reading.

I went simple and cheap for the first rear seeing as I'm just getting used to the bike. Shinko Verge for $109 out of Motorcycle Superstore. The Shinko 190 does not seem as wide as the P.Power 2ct that was on the bike when I bought it but I'm pleasantly surprised after a 5 hour ride up and down the Sea to Sky Hwy here in British Columbia. The tire stuck to the road and didn't have any side wall 'squash' in the turns. We'll see how it does in the rain soon. Cheers.

It seems everyone that runs a Shinko has good luck with them.
Congrats on the new bike. It looks great with the bags. The muffler looks great too. Be carefull with that beast.

Hi Cuff,

Sharp looking ZX!!

I am curious to see how your Muzzy pipe support the center stand. Can you take some pics of the center stand stop and forward them to me? Thank you!

Thank you!

Coming right up. :-)

Thanks for the kind words but I have to apologize for the dirty bike. We've had a lot of rain during my weekly commute and haven't had the chance to clean it. And yes, I'll be riding it all winter in Canada. lol

The clamp on the pipe is just a standard ss clamp with a vacuum cap on the bolt end trimmed to length. The centre stand has a rubber stop bolted on to a flange. There is a little 'bump' in the system when hitting larger bumps in the road but nothing too noticeable. Waaaaaayyy better than my old interceptor that rattled and clanked when hitting the smallest of obstacles.
