New Full Yosh R77 with PC5
05/04/09 7:40 PM

I got my bike back from the shop tonight. I got installed a Yosh R77 Full Titanium with PC5. I didnt have time for much of a test ride besides the 5 miles back but so far I am very pleased. I also got a custom map done it. HP numbers are impressive before and after. He uss a Factory Pro Tunning Eddy Current Dynamometer for tuning which gives HP numbers 20% less than what the standard DynoJet 250 gives. Stock peak ran at 141.25 HP and after is 154.67 HP. When converting that to Dynojet HP (which is what most people use)it is 169.5 HP stock and 185.6 after exhaust and tune. Torque stock is 101.6 and 107 after. More impressive than the numbers is the power curve. Hp gain entirely across the rev range with no dips. I have the graphs that I have to scan in then I will post them.

Looks are subjective but I think its perfect.Fit and finish is flawless. I still need to take pics. The throttle response is way better than stock. There stupid fast stock so its now just pointless! I noticed the difference in the weight immediately also.

Looks really good Hoopie!
And that is the smoothest power curve I think I've seen!
Have you thought about the auto tuner for that PC5?
I'd be really curious how the #'s would compare to the "ol' fashoined way".

Thanks, I thought about the autotuner for the pc5 but that is pointless if you get a custom map. With the autotuner you tell the engine what a/f ratio you want and with a custom tune done right you let the bike tell you what it wants. Though most tuners set an a/f at 13.1 and say build map then give it to you. Its a safe tune but not necessarly the best tune. For example on the zx14 we started leaning out the top of the rpm band and it was loosing power. It likes it more rich up top compared to down low and midrange.

Good point about the bike liking different a/f at different rpms. One advantage I still see with the autotune over the manual is that there isn't really a good way to duplicate the ram air on the dyno.
I've still never had a custom (PC3) map done for my bike. I know as soon as I do, I'll just mod something else and have to have it tuned again. That's my biggest draw to the PC5 and autotuner. I'm hoping soon someone tries them out on a '06-'07 to make sure they work. I'd prefer not to be the guinea pig.
I'd really like to see same bike same dyno charts manual vs. autotuner. Since I already have a PC3, I'd rather spend my $$$ on something else if I can get the bike to run just as well or better from a manual tune.

Besides the expandability, do you see advantages/disadvantages of PC3 vs PC5?

The only other advantage is that it is smaller than the pc5 and has a few more points of fine tuning. I wouldnt buy a pc 5 if you already have a pc 3. Get all the mods done you want and then take it to get a tune all at one time. A difference i noticed from custom tune and standard PC or Factory Map is the throttle repsonse and ussually a few more HP accross the entire RPM band.

That looks very nice, and those figures are great.

I'm very seriously considering the same for my 08.

Regards from down under.

The exhaust made the bike what it should have been stock. It really opened up the power up top and the custom map gave it great throttle reponse now. The added weight loss is just as important and the bike does not feel as heavy. I wish I could loose 30 pounds now! kiddding..

Are the plugs the same ?

Yes. The '08-'09 maps just wouldn't be compatible with an '06-'07. A guy, on BL, says he installed a PC5 and autotuner on his race car with an '07 engine and ECU. I also noticed that Schnitz is now listing them for '06-'09. I'm definitly gonna pick up the PC5 and autotuner for my '06, but I need to wait until next month. I already spent way too much this month!

Its quite as stock but with a deeper tone. I like it because it is not loud.

Are you willing to share the a/f numbers for your map?
I'm playing with a PC5 and autotune now and would love to have a power curve like your's!

I have no idea on what the A/F ratio is on my map. The tuner tunes by CO on his dyno. The numbers are posted on the top post picture of the CO at each RPM. I have no idea on how that relates to the A/F numbers.

If you open up your map in the PC5 software there is an afr table.

Ahh, good to know. I have to pull it from the PC5 first.
