Shock Rebuild Experiences
03/14/12 6:25 AM

I know a lot of guys replace the stock shock with a Penske/Ohlins/etc, but was wondering what experiences people had having the stock shock revalved and resprung. Its $250-350 more for a new shock, and as strictly a street bike I'm expecting a rebuild to be good enough - I'm sure just getting sprung correctly will be a great improvement. I'm planning to get the forks rebuilt at the same time, and the shop I found close to me uses Ohlins components.

I have got Ohlins components in the forks and it makes a HUGE difference. At 225 lbs without gear I could have used a different valve because the front still dive a little too much. The guy who did my suspension noted that so next year when I do my rebuild, that will be addressed. I wish the fork tubes could go up to 30mm with the spring...
To answer your question: it depends of your weight and riding style BUT just with Ohlins/Racetech/Penske components you'll notice a night and day difference especially when you push the bike.
Here's is my shock set-up, cagers look at it like it's a bottle of nitrous lol
