All-

Anyone have any insight? Is newer better and I should get the Power Commander 5?? Or is the PCIII USB still the one to get?

Many thanks-

Ask all the guys on this forum who have purchased a v5, if they feel like they got what they paid for.

A few might do a lot of track days, and benefit from Autotune's data-logging. Some might go to the drag strip, same deal.

But for a ZX14 that lives on the street, and like mine, in the mountains, the v3 piggy (USB) is more than adequate. Most of us run the map that we got either with our exhaust system, or from DynoJet, or from F.A.I.C. (Jeffo). Once we have one loaded we tend to leave it alone.

I had a choice to get a v5 when I got my CT-Duals exhaust from Brock. He talked with me about what kind of riding I do, and said he'd be happy to sell me a v5 with Autotune and make a little more money, but all I needed was a v3 USB. Turns out his advice was sound.

I just recently changed the map to one sent me by Jeffo, so since 2008 I've ridden the tires off it and never once stopped to mess with the map. This change is because I'm curious to see how Jeffo's ideas translate to the reality of my bike. Otherwise, I'd have left it alone for another year.

My 2 cents is go with a v3 USB piggy as long as you have access to a good map for it.

I went with a PC V only because there's a chance I may want to add AutoTune or the other plugin features the PC V has, in the future. But honestly, I never had experience with a PCIII, to compare with. Guys here have both. I can tell you I am very happy with the PC V with the map I got from Jamie at Fuel Moto, as my bike wasn't running quite right after the swap to Muzzy slip ons and a K&N. Now its idling great and running strong all the way up, no issues.

Fair enough.

But if you never spend another few hundred (quite a few) to get Autotune etc., you will have spent money on a unit you are not taking advantage of, but rather using it as a PC3.

You are correct Privateer.. :) And I can agree that I probably could have gotten the same results from a PCIII for my bike.
