Chrome Wheels?
07/11/11 10:30 PM

All, I would to know if any one on the board have used the chrome wheel exchange program like the few they have on eBay?
I would like to do it this month but, not sure if one is better then another.....etc?

Thanks in Advance

Sorry. Not much help here. Who can say who does a better job or their service? If dealing with E'bay then check out their customer satisfaction rating.
I wanted chrome at first but decided against it. I usually keep things a LONG time and I heard the plating process in California is cheaper than it used to be and that made me worry the chrome might not stand up to tire changers or start chipping or not look good after awhile. I also felt the chrome was a bit much and didn't want it anymore.
For about the same money I decided to have mine powdercoated in the centers and polished outside. Does require a bit of polishing now and then but I like the polished look more than chrome.
If I did go with chrome and the "exchange system" you describe, I'd insist on getting my own wheels back. Would slow down the process but what if you get some wheels that were abused in some way? Never know what people will swap. Out of true wheels just don't work.

Here is a couple of links that my help you choose if the exchange program is for you.If i remember correctly i waited a month an a half for my own rims to be plated.I had them done in the rainy season so the wait would not be so painful.

After three years the chrome is still in great shape an there is no chipping from changing tires. doug

The chrome on my wheels are chipping and peeling. I bought my bike used with them already on so I have no idea where they come from.

CJUNI where did you get yours from?

Thanks -- Bobby

Guess I started something with the helmet.
cjuni, we're only looking out for ya. My niece was in an accident a few weeks ago and she was wearing a 3/4 helmet, which is actually better protection than what's in your pic. Her husband took off too fast and she wasn't ready. She flipped over somehow and did a face plant in the street at about 20 mph? Since no front protection she lost 4 teeth, dislocated her jaw, broke her nose and got a pretty deep gash on her forehead, and hurt her shoulder. You wouldn't believe how puffed up she was for several days. Couldn't hardly drink a shake because even that hurt her. They want $12,000 just for her teeth and jaw.
A full face helmet almost certainly would have eliminated all injuries except the shoulder. Just a thought.
Not trying to rag on ya. Just don't want to see you banged up. Like I said, even a 20 mph fall can screw you up.
