did you know him cooter, either way it is a sad way for a poor decision to end up, not sure what happens to him if he stops but price he paid was to high for a simple offence. RIP

This story is horribly sad. It seems that every time I'm out on my 14R some kid with a modded 600 wants to race. I don't know what it is that encourages this behavior on the public roads but with the performance available to anyone with a couple of thousand dollars it's bound to happen every now and then.

I feel for the family that lost their son or brother. Godspeed!

This ride is NOT because ANYONE condones that type of riding. We lost an amazing person. Th ride is to support his family and friends and to show people like you that there are responsible riders. This ride is something different for every person but ultimately its about a memory that we can't replace. I hope you do show up to see for yourself what its really about. The love of the ride and the love of life and all that goes with it. Have a great day cooter ..

COOTER; You saw what you saw, the facts are the facts, and you have a right to your opinion. You have nothing to apologize for. I wouldn't give out personal info though.

How does he have nothing to apologize for?? That picture was posted not to long after the accident took place so how do you know if the family had even seen any pictures of the bike?

And what is with the slinkies comment? That's pretty messed up to put... did you know the victim? Probably not so don't go talking "crap" unless you knew him personally!

luvmeimacutie: I don't need to know him. I read the article. I have the right to my opinion, and I'll talk crap if I want. We have to share the road with irresponsible, dangerous drivers. The slinkies comment has been my signature for months, nothing to do with this post, if that's what you meant. Say a prayer for him, and if you ask nice, I will too, but don't join a public forum just to tell people what they can or can't talk about because you don't like it. As for the family seeing the picture... if they didn't want to see it, why would they go to this motorcycle forum, search through all the threads, and click on it? It's not like Cooter e-mailed it to them. Unless of course you pointed it out to them, in which case you owe them an apology.

NOBODY wants to add insult to injury.NOBODY.IF the family IS looking here...I can tell ya right now...all ours hearts go out to them for their terrible loss.Extremely terrible. And to his friends.I've no doubt he was loved by many...and that's awesome.Terrible thing to happen to anyone or anyone's loved ones.God Bless all of you involved.I doubt that he would want people to start throwing darts at each other cause of him.People express feelings in all sorts of ways...nobody was trying to categorize him or diss anything about him.Very very sad.

Yeah everyone has opinions but they're like assholes.....everyone has one!! And good for yoy...you read the article! Did you know him or anything about the situation? Hmm doubt it so therefore you shouldn't be on here talkin crap. Just because he made knw bad decision doesn't mean he was always an irresponsible driver...everyone makes mistakes!! Its human nature. He was an awesome person who didn't deserve what happened to him but only the good die young!

"And the picture was pointed out to the family and it was very insulting and stomach wrenching..."...and how did that happen? The picture...the story. The sadness..the loss.Cooter did that?...Alg8tr caused that?

Only one person did this deal.I can only hope the moral of the story is out there loud and clear.Deserve's got nothin to do with it.I don't care who you are....you drink...you ride(or drive)...you risk everyone out there....not just yourself. If your friends have any desire to live long and enjoy riding or whatever....watch out for each other...leave the alcohol out of the picture.Or you'll be repeating this again and again.Guaranteed.God Bless all his friends and family...sincerely.

RIP rider.

luvmeimacutie; He was an irresponsible driver when he was drinking and driving, which was the cause of the accident being discussed. You're right, an opinion is like an asshole, and you are voicing your opinion. It's unfortunate that he had to learn his lesson the hard way, but apparently he wasn't very good at learning lessons. The good die young, and so do the stupid. I still don't know why you're here. We had nothing to do with his accident or your grief. Maybe I've become hard hearted after losing many friends and family over the years to stupidity and bad decisions. I was almost killed by a drunk driver, and he put my aunt in the hospital for 6 months. I didn't know him, and didn't need to. He was just another drunk on the highway that was eventually going to kill himself, someone else, or both. I suppose you just can't face that fact because you liked him. Not my problem.

• One person is killed every half-hour due to drunk driving
• Each year approximately 16,000 are killed in alcohol related crashes
• Alcohol is a factor in almost half of all traffic fatalities
• Every other minute a person is seriously injured in an alcohol related crash
• Over 40% of fatal automobile accidents are alcohol-related
• Approximately 30% of Americans will be in an accident involving alcohol
• According to estimates, someone is injured in an alcohol-related accident every two minutes
• About two-thirds of DUI convictions are for first time offenders
• More than one-third of all fatal traffic accidents involve at least one person with a BAC over 0.08%
Approximately one-third of drunk drivers are repeat offenders who tend to drive with a high blood alcohol content (BAC). These drivers are 200 times more likely to kill on the road than the average non-drinking driver.

That IS my problem!
