Plan on hitting the new New York Safety Track and NJMP this season. Gonna push those dates to at least May got to make sure it's at least 60*. I hate the cold suprising since I'm born and raised in Buffalo N.Y. Did you go to NCbike in November? I was there Nov 3.

I'm riding with TeamProMotion all season at all their tracks in the North-East, hoping to log in at least 30 days in 2013. I also ride at Loudon with anybody if the weather is nice- Boston Moto, Tony, Fishtail etc., hoping to do another 8-10 days there in 2013.
I usually fight the winter depresion by building yet another bike, it helps a lot.
I'll be heading to NC and VIR in March, can't wait!

Here's the 2013 TPM schedule (keep in mind the newly redone Pocono!)

Guys that sounds great for sure! Silver I need to make a plane to hit the NY Safety track also. When will it open and who's runnin there? I ran with Tonys in NH it was pretty good. Didn't love the track but the back bowl was awesome for sure. And NJMP thunderbolt with Pro Moton. They were also nice guys. I was going to hit NJ last April but your right it was way too cold. I think may it just about right. Lol
I've been really thinking about buying another bike for track days and to take some of the mile off my baby. maybe a 1000RR or a 1198. I'd like to go with either of them but who knows I'm sure I'll just stay with one bike.

O Shit Drag your not helping my addiction! LOL If I had the steam I;d keep my baby and put her i my office buythe new 14R and have a Duck Street Fighter for something diff and then the HP4 for track and back and forth to work. Now that would be just about right! Heck if I blow out the old lady I could probably do that! LOL

Yeah, beat this set up here...
http://weraclassifieds.com/ads/2011-bmw-s1000rr-larry-pegram/
But again, why so in love with bikes that you can ride to about 25% of their potential?
Those same bikes that will cost $5K in hard parts just to repair after a minor lowside.
I would save a lot of $$$ on the "track bike" and invest in track time and tires.

Mass I hear you but I can say I did get to ride a 2012 ZX10 at the Thunderbolt and it went very nice. I mean there was no where near the power I have on tap but with time I would actually be faster on the ZX10 because you can hammer it in the turn and she isn’t going anywhere as far as sliding out. If I do that on my baby either she’s coming out or the front wheel is going to the sky! Lol
Even with the weight my girl lost with the BST wheels and other carbon and titanium goodies the ZX10 flicks around like a 95lbs Asian girl listening to gangdom style! Hahahah

I've posted this video before... a 1000 cc is not necessarily "faster" around a track than a smaller displacement bike, even on the fast NJMP Thunderbolt.

If it's mainly street with the occasional track day a liter bike may appear better suited.
However, when you go down at the track (certainly not if) you'll end up busting up a very expensive ride.
Furthermore if you want to attend the track more seriously you'll have to have extra sets of wheels with race rubber and rain rubber, also race bodywork (top $$$ for the bimmer and very little used gear anywhere). The hours spent swapping oem for track stuff feel like days sometimes, unless you're willing to risk the shiny factory fairings. Unless put putting on street tires is ok.
And then comes the suspension aspect- you can't ride at the track with street setting and vice versa unless you're pace is very novice and clicks don't really make a difference.
That 1000 will also chew up through tires like there's no tomorrow! On the 10r I get 2 track days out of two rears and one front (VB Michelin Cups/ Slicks), you do the math on the tire expenses alone. Tire wear rate without warmers and without dialed in real suspension (not oem junk) will be even quicker.
And so on...
Bottom line is- do you want to own a nice and shiny bike or do you want to become a better rider by attending many track days and race schools on the same budget?

So far I think TPM and Nesba have gotten NYST May is when TPM starts running there. Yeah most of the coaches from TPM have 600's crazy fast. You think your doing something and they blow right by you like your standing still. I've been looking at 1k's to add one to the stable they are really not much bigger than the 600's IMO. Seen the HP4 in person WOW!! what a bike but the price tag.

And at your height 220 lbs. is skinny IMHO
Do you still your 14? What sprocket did you use with the BST's? I was wondering if a supersprocket (gold and black) will work with those.

I run a 41 black Vortex. I wanted to go with the supersprocket but they don't offer one. The Vortex lasts about one riding season. 8,000 to 10,000 miles per year. I love all size bikes but I'm a larger liter guy. I love my big girl and I will say I'm fast on the track and always up front but it is a little like taking a machete to an operation instead of a scalpel. I'm just saying I think I can ride faster on the 385 lbs 1000cc than my girl. But who knows I'd love to time myself on both and see how it goes....

I'm a Jon Jones with 20-30 more lbs of muscle mass
DE Chandler Jones? LOL
What sprocket did you use with the BST's?
Vortex on the 14, 41 and 42T. Yep, I still have it. AFAM and Driven on the 750 in 520, I have two rear BST wheels for it. AFAM on the 10r and Driven on the new cbr in 520.
None of them will last as long as steel sprockets but that's why I stash lots of them.

@ Dragking.....I'm 245 without gear and my 600 is plenty capable of hauling me around a track! If you set them up right in the turn you can actually pass liters on the straights(unless they are really long). I LOVE passing 1000s on my "little" 600!

do you have any pics of the CBR and how does it compare to the 10R
I'm considering build threads for both bikes with pics and stuff but can't stay motivated keeping track of all the progress. The cbr is being put together as an unlimited superbike- it's a complete overhaul and I'm close to finishing it, should be ready for March. The 10r is more mildly built but plenty capable, just hasn't been turned into a track-only bike yet.

I live just one hour away from NJ Motorsports and still haven't being able to attend one of their events. Every time I make plans to go always something comes up at the last minute. In the early 80's I used to work for a dealership in NYC and we attended lots of races at Pocono Raceway.
