I think his point is $15k is a high ask. I agree. Bike's got 1200 miles on it, and I'm sure it's pristine but that it's the limited edition paint isn't really that big of a deal... it'll book right along with the others. I dunno, maybe in 20 years it might be worth 10% more than regular 14Rs of the same year but probably not.

Hell my local deal has a brand new one for $14k

emo, the reality goes like this...

1. I bought wrong [out the door] so I am going to pass it along.
2. I dipped my bike in gold, love the color, so buy my bike plus the gold I made it look like me, now pay me to look like me and my accessories I bought too.
3. I better think about 'used' no matter how 'I price the same bike new out the door' as I will sit on it like an egg [for that price] until it hatches... My only option... is here I lay.

KBB = $14040.00 used.
KBB = 10,325.00 trade-in.

Reality kicks in...

A. I better price lower than KBB so when one looks up the price... Potential!
B. I better price it right or I'm out 5 grand I trade it in.
C. I better price the bike where I see 14k vs 10k is a 5k loss or say I run a 13k price and I'm only losing 2k and stop the bleeding me waiting 2 years down the road with the same price who am I kidding at this price... Happy squatting on that number.

Unfortunately I don't think Emorrisette realized we're trying to help him understand his asking price is very high and likely will turn off any potential buyers based on that. Kaw has a very tough time moving new 14s. If it wasn't their flagship sportbike (well...production anyway) they probably wouldn't even bother with it.

I hope for his sake that things are going well for him and he's not destitute or whatever and owes like 20k on it because he financed a bunch of bullshit. At the same time, if he put himself into that situation, my sympathy can only extend so far. Why on earth does someone buy one of these beauties and want to sell it at 1200 miles blows my mind. My suggestion to him is to keep her, ride her, and enjoy her.

We run into swap prices like that. Guy wants retail for a used part. We laugh, mention the egg and sitting on in as we leave. Takes a lot of balls or they are just plain stew pit.

Funny, I get a PM from someone... said 'it should happen to me if I sell something' and I AM selling something. It's priced lower than book and priced to sell. Not a scratch, low miles, showroom condition, etc. You deal with pricing your bike and if the public makes comment about the price... Good the fuck luck!

"flagship sportbike"...NOT. (If I remember your statement a while backLOL)

Hell...he might get 15K for it...who knows.I'd say more like 13.Maybe.Private party that is.

"Why on earth does someone buy one of these beauties and want to sell it at 1200 miles blows my mind." It's NOT for everyone.Lots of people buy these and find out,it's just not what they wanted.

"Vic, I was the 3rd owner of my 09 monster at 403 miles"...there ya go...TWO owners.Sheesh;).

..if he put himself into that situation, my sympathy can only extend so far.

Very logical thought this side of begging on the street I doubt. Has to be something else. Now, where did the common sense step back and the 'oh no, not shit your brains out half throttle and we are now spooked?' My son wanted it but likes the 1000 and wants to slow down?

The kid has a fairly new bike model, so say it's not money. I mean, isn't this the bike to buy if you want top end, hurry up, how sweet it is, add extra bulletproof, give you a head start; if not on the same model kind of power delivery?

I made a mistake? And now pay for my mistake-impulse buy-'er's remorse? That's what I do not understand is how to price or here, I took a few bites but pay me full pop for a hamburger today, I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a limited, hold the pickle, hold the lettuce; chew this up and spit it back out; there you go; full sandwich; let me wrap that up for you.

Does the OP sort of see that bike has been burger'd? Expects; who knows how the bike was broken in, 600 serviced by whom, grind the dealers for the best price and beat that price out the door all spanking brand new, not a mile on it give or take?

emo, I was not the first to make comment about the price. There were more tactful comments than mine. No matter your situation, I know someone more in debt for buying a class wannabe bike costing way more than a 14, then come to found out it's a pile of shit and has to be gone thru to even run. He'll never get his money back so he's stuck in a Catch22, pours more in it and I can't stop the bleeding.

So I have no sympathy for your situation, it's already in use [going nowhere]. Here is where my nephew knows this crowd of swappers and he tells me this guy is overpricing his stuff and carries the same stuff home each time; go figure. You're not one of those guys, yes? No?

emo takes off? He gets all bent out of shape I sort of matter of fact, expressing the same thing? Got it. Empire's new cloths and now spank me for it... I love those 'deed and yes indeed are you going to get it doing goodeeds.'

Well damn didn't mean to chase the OP off. Just thought he should know his price is way too high, then I would've deleted my post. I should've stated that. Actually, I should've just stayed out of it.

Nah. No offense but fuck him (her). For one thing, I think they joined to forum just to sell their bike. That's not against the rules (AFAIK) but add that to the fact someone that can't stand up to a little pressure doesn't have the balls for one of these beast anyway...

actually thanks extrapolator, I think I finally just realized why some people sell them after 1200 miles.

Vic has no sympathy, tells the guy to fuck off, here I am pricing the bike back to reality as most of the posts that mention said amount. This is for something used... Used... Did I mention used?... A neglect in first service, and now buy my 1 of 1000's made, here's my Triumph Jubilee paint scheme with the same leaks, breaks this, breaks down that.

LOL someone else said Emorrisette pm'd them. He pm'd me telling me it wasn't fair to post a similar bike like his for less. Why? Can someone explain this to me? Oh...because it's his and his price was ridiculous.

I should sell him my bike for $50k. I mean, apparently to him it's unfair to compare prices or value... so he's morally obligated (by his own standards) to buy it because my price can't be unfair.

My bud calls, tells me his friend bought a duc for 40 grand, took out a 7% loan having screwed up some sort of credit. It's a limited edition super leggera with about the same miles as emo's. He tells me it's going to be worth bucks down the road and I said only to some duc quack with way too much money: if it's a collectible at all. Right now it's too overpriced.

So he calls his other buddy who is a duc aficionado about the bike. So his bud says to buy the 17k duc, buy wheels, suspension, cams, ti hardware, this--that, and he could of had the same bike for less. So this guy is now stuck with a bike he'll never recoup what he shelled out--plus interest.

The latest bikes now have the kill for upshifts and rev-kill on the downshifts. This super only has a kill for upshifts. Right, I want the latest obsolete bike and pay for that era? Is that how it works?

Manufactured as collectible rarely is. Limited Edition doesn't mean shit. Hey who bought one of the 90s Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Limited Edition? Those should be worth, what $250k by now shouldn't they (in mint, unrestored condition of course).

No one can predict what will become a high valued collectible at some future time and most likely if it's something really old like beyond our lives it'll have value. Grn's doing the right thing, he's riding and enjoying his H2. That's just another example of a bike I do not see at least in our lifetimes having some special value. Mostly because my guess is a lot of people bought them as "investments".

Anyway, the PM, the deletion, receded testes, that's what earned him the fuck him.

"Anyway, the PM, the deletion, receded testes, that's what earned him the fuck him."

This Threadelivers!

I have to agree. The public is so fickle, they'll chase or price the first year as more valuable than a limited edition. So to recoup, the son has to park it, never touch it, if not hand it down to his kid, or the value goes down you begin to fill up your sig line with mods, accessories, mileage, etc. It's that fine of a line as to what you bought if it's a 'limited'.. IMO.

So emo, the more you sit on it she no moves at that price, it's now a few years down the road you holding onto that number. Now, look up kbb and what is the value now someone wants to take a loan out on it, the bank looks up kbb and that's all it's worth to the bank.

See how if the bank thinks it's worth this set price, the insurance is going to rate that number somewhere below yours... Drop trousers, see if they dropped any in the reality check...

Signed,

Meat Puppet
