pro tek gas cap help

i have a 06 i bought wrecked it had a hole in the tank i got a tank off a 11 my pro tek gas cap will not fit into the recess of the 11 tank and on ebay almost every brand only fits up to 10 but all the pro tek caps say up to 11 has anyone else had these problems

I ordered a non-locking (but not a Pro-Tek) gas cap and the ad said for all years '06-'11.

If the tank was damaged in the crash, perhaps the cap asembly got tweaked in the process and won't seat in the new tank? How much "off" is it from fitting?

In perusing different gas caps available on fleabay, I noticed some list '06 to '11 compatibility and some are '06 to '08. Mmmmmm.
