Hey all,
I just bought a brand new 2010 model ZX-14, and the 1st thing I want to do is get rid of is stock exhaust. Anyone know if it's ok to add slip-on M4's (or similar) before the 600 mile "break-in" period is over?
Thanks
Todd

Adding slips do nothing to any break-in.
Adding slips without a pc IS A FALLACY.
Adding a pair of sunglasses to your face to look cool does not all of a sudden you need to eat different you changed your face.
Adding a pair of slips on to your bike to make it look cool, does not take more gas as if the engine knows you changed the muffler, as if you need to change your eating habits for a day, you need to change your underwear too?
Make stupid sense to you?
Like? I have to go to the hospital, have my lungs change because summer set in, I'm going to breath different?
Like? The bike is smarter than you? It knows what happened and can keep up with the change of underwear?
Like? My question is, will the break-in change, I remove a flame fairing to a sparkle boat fairing?
Like? Will my air change somehow I'm not thinking straight, nor follow the flow?
Like? Has my question been answered, a simple yes, it's OK, would have been fine.

And I thought the MV Agusta board is where all the "special" people posted! (ZX replaces MV F4750)
So If I am to accurately de-code the "hub" post, putting cool black M4 slip-ons on my ZX without a PC will only make it look and sound super-cool, which is not good and will probably make me want to eat my underware, is that correct?

if you are not going to get a full system, get the M4s. but you will get a full system some day so just get it now.
Break the bike in in 30 miles. Fast and hard. then do what you want with mods

just put the $600 you'd spend on the m4's toward a full system cuz on that 2010 you'll still have that cat in the header creating all that heat. I did the m4's then not even 6 months later did the full system

toDD does not listen to turtle, nor reads the turtle, nor sets the formula in motion. Some take their question to that end. And this was probably the most extreme 'Fallacy' you could prove that theory out. Whom be the hero who took their mufflers off, screamed around for awhile, and I bet he made it scream with enough air in/out to show the bike does not need a fuel setting for the street.
The air pulse is not going to preform as well as the factory i.e., street wise. You make one move on the 'Proof'inn Bullet,' she won't aim straight with all that lag at the bottom. And most of the time you will be around the low rpm with traffic holding up most of the ride. Count the speed limit too. So, why throw more gas at it?
You add a map play to it, here comes the call of the wild. You know, "Anyone have a mapisscrap is mine.' LOL

Rook,
Great info. good read!!
Back in 1991 there was a "Cycle World" article with the GSXR 1100 on how to break-in process there were 4 bikes and long story short the 2 bikes that were beat on from jump street did put out more horsepower and that was back in 91.
CRAZY!
I would say break it in on how you intend on using it! Right?
