Changes on the way maybe
05/09/21 9:07 AM

So, as most of you know, last November my galoot of a Dawg decided to assassinate my
left knee. Tibia plateau fracture. Had surgery and a big plate put in. I've been in PT since then working on strength and range of motion. Well, I can get my heel on the footage but can't work
the shifter yet. Knee is still swollen and my PT doctor said, in some cases it can remain
this way for up to a year. Sooo my bike sits. The other day I found a company in the UK
that makes an electric shifter. Only 1 moving part, very robust, adaptable to almost
anything. Called Flatshifters. They get really good reviews. You have 2 buttons that go on a bracket below the left handlebar. One for upshift, the other for down. You can also still
footshift the bike. Heck I think I'd get it anyway just because it sounds cool.
Ill keep you posted.

Mad, take it from a crash dummy... do your PT and rest... A Lot! Pain says, 'don't cause this again.' I'm sure MM has that pain threshold like you, but pushing it is a no-no. Time is the body saying, 'it's not hurting so bad now,' but you can see it's not pain free. That's with a year out or more remember, before you say 100% free of pain... sans the 'residual.' You're only a half a year in. Trust me, ain't gonna happen is the riding.

Which would you like to hear first... 'I told you so'... or... 'what the fuck, are you stupid?'
Let's start with the WTF... you miss on the balance, stab that gimp on the ground and add a shit load of pain to it, can't go to PT, puffed like a balloon now... in comes the... I told you so.

I rather sit around and utube out than be the gimp... I had to push it? Not with my body. It talks to me, right? I'm not about to lay out the residuals still happening to this day. Your call how it looks out of the box. By that I mean, a hot pizza right out of the oven, in the box and you tilt it heading for the car. Seat has a tilt so you lay it on the seat, not on the flat floor. Open it up and the topping is to one side. In other words, it WAS Setting Up and you moved it. Now your knee looks like... open the lid is the x-ray.

Time v. pizza pain, or time is not to feel pain. The position of no pain is that leg being up, down, go find it.

I found a shiftshitter...

I appreciate the advice. My PT doctor said that the main thing right now is
scar tissue and residual swelling. He says,at this point, it's better to force
the joint a little bit at a time to keep it progressing. So, I'm working it and
using our new hot tub along with lots of ice packs.
