Well what an excellent weekend it was. I have some photos to post soon. I see posting photos to the forum has its own "procedure" and I'll need to re-read that thread. I had originally taken photos as the job was in progress, but damn if they didnt come up missing when I downloaded them off the camera. I do have some pics after the fact, coming soon.....
Full Titanium pipe from Oreint express most impressive. The welds,Wow, and I dont care if they are robotic or not. Hell, George Jetson could have done them for all I care. I do a fair amount of TIG welding, and I probably spent 30 minutes and a beer just admiring them.
Started out Fri night, bike on the lift, check out instructions, eyeball the job. Started at 10 Sat, pipe on by noon, butterflies out about 1:30.
PC-3 install was pretty straight forward, an Orient Express map preloaded. The K+N install...was an air filter change. Dont forget the grease.
I capped off the clean air system at the valve cover, and made a really cool stainless plug on the lathe for the hole in the frame/airbox.
The bike worked pretty friendly. Once the bodywork is off there is lots of room to get around. The "push flush to engage, push in again to release" plastic rivets under the nose of the bike were pretty nifty.
Fired it up and it sounded great. With no laptop around, I eyeballed the double doors leading into the computer room. In no time flat, I had the bike running in the house and hooked up to HAL, my super-computer. "No dear, I dont think the house smells like exaust..." Ok, I had the doors open and the big fan running, but Pookie's nose was twitching when she got home from work.
First ride was about 3 in the afternoon. Bike runs very well, nice boost in power, quite rapid indeed. looks great.
I'm pleased. I think the map may be a touch rich down low, so I'll be playing with that soon.
Regards from Tucson!
