Hello
03/07/10 10:32 AM

Just wanted to introduce myself real quick. I have been reading this forum for a while before I decided to pull the trigger on a new 08 Silver 14. I have ridden crusers for most of my life and this is my first foray on a sport bike. I wanted one that didn't contort me in a pretzle and I could ride all day which is what brought me to the 14. She currently has 7 miles on her and WOW, this succer can go! My last bike was a roadstar warrier and even with its torque this 14 is a whole new animal. I'm going to be taking it very easy for a while.

I'm look at setting up my 14 for longer rides and currently I have the following mods to help in this endevor:
Genmar 1" risers
Zero Grazity double bubble

I have been reading about the Buell pegs, what modifications are necessary to make them fit and are they worth it?

Thanks

Buell XB 12 pegs is what ya want.Slight redrilling of the pin hole, and a slight shaving(filing) of the "stop" edge on the peg.Easy deal-lowers one inch.Nice mod and will help your legs in the long haul.Have fun and BE CAREFUL for a while!

I went with the Corbin peg lowering and love them. It places your feet farther apart, but I came off the Harley's and find the placement of the pegs comfortable.

I have been considering the Genmar risers to add to my Heli-Bar Risers. There is a thread on here where I think Blue07 uses them together. The Heli-Bar version has a cap to cover the opening above the preload nut.

Thanks for the welcome.

slidder,

How long have you had the corbin peg lowering kit? I have not seen them but have heard that they don't age well (rust etc).

Put them on last Fall. No full season riding on them yet.

JBird,

I lived in North Edmond most of my life. Problem is I now live in IL and have bounced around the country for the last several years. That is why my screen name is Okie4Life because where ever I am I'm still an Okie and proud of it. Next time I'm in town I'll look you up.

You guys go out to Thunder Valley much? I haven't been out there is years myself. Never been there on a bike but used to race a Mustang Bullet and a Ford Lightning out there years back.

I try to go there at least 2-3 times a year and run the test-n-tune nights but never got around to it last year. Funny thing is I'v has the 14 now for a little over year and have never ran it there yet, lol. Last time I went 4...count it...4 effing cars blew up and hosed the track start to finish. Got to run 2 times in the 5 hours I was there...might be why I didn't go last year :)
