Grab handles cheaper not cheapest
02/02/12 6:07 PM

I needed a better way to hold my bike while putting it on the rear stand. I was always cautious with my hand on top of the seat trying to hold it steady. I have seen the factory ones for centerstand equipped bikes but this was a little cheaper. Got R6 $13.99 pegs and 2 M10 fine thread bolts and caps $7.00 and now have a better place to grab. As one of our great members once said,

Cool, Black. Looks good and prollly a much better grip with the slightly narrower diameter + cheaper. win/win/win situation!

Thanks guy`s!
I searched for a stepped stud M14 to M10 in fine thread to just thread into the M14 fine on the footpeg and thread into the M10 fine thread on the bike so I didnt need such along bolt 100mm (4+ inch`s) but could`nt find one locally. They feel very strong and like they are part of the frame. Also gets rid of the "looks like something belongs there" remarks.

Those grab handles look very expensive! I am sure they handle way better than mine do I could of got the gold anodized ones and put some Ohlins stickers on them but somehow just is`nt the same. Love your bike and the res mount location! Wonder how it would look mounting a gold anodized peg on the other side? just a thought. Ohlins are on my wish list as is exhaust. I`m so needy!

I may have to go look for some pegs now. Great idea. Why the hell didn't i think of that. I agree there's no real good place to grab while lifting onto rear stand.

Thanks for sharing.

You could always install a Euro passenger grab handle. Good spot for passenger to grab as well as easy for lifting bike onto paddock stand.

BlackZX14, Awesome idea dude. There really isn't any good way to grab onto the back of the bike for anything. I'm always looking for a way to straighten up the back of the bike when I put it on my lift. Good job.

That's a factory Momma Kaw grab rail.

Just took a peek at the bike, there are no well nuts on the seat frame for installation of one on the rights side, unless it mounts differently.

Prior to putting the bags on I had this one on the left side for centerstand lifting.

I really like the factory one also but costs some money new and even used they are expensive cause I would want 2 of them to mount on left and right side. My set-up was $20 dollars and comes in all sorts of colors and styles! Ebay is loaded with aluminum pegs. I bet even the bicycle stunters pegs would work fine too!

if anyone is interested, i have a khi grab handle that came with the factory centerstand f/s for $15+shipping. Can't use it with the SW-Motech quick-re4lease mounts for the V35 bags.

Yes I do. I'm kinda pissed that I can't use it. It is a pretty neat part. Luckily the bike levers up onto the C-stand pretty easily, although it may be a different story loaded with all three bags. Do you have Paypal? P.M. me your full name and address and I'll get it mailed out ASAP. Shouldn't cost more than a few bucks to ship.

Caps are just black plastic nut covers. The place where I bought the metric bolts also had the black covers they where about .70 cents each. Here`s the link to the place I went to buy metric hardware in my area.
