I have a alpinestars bionic 2 jacket and icon elbow/knee armor that I wear under my snowmobile jacket when I ride sleds. I have been thinking, now that fall is approaching I may want to wear it under some jacket for cold wx riding with my zx14. In the past I have worn my 15 year old leather jacket but it has no armour and is cut way to tight to wear any armor any under it.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Well, ideally, you don't want the base layer to be windproof so my vote would be, for the material against the body, the Knox underwear/long johns and shirt combo, then layer over this with your windproof or let the jacket/overpants do that job. Knox is a bit pricey, but, from what webbikeworld.com's reviews say, they're well worth it. You're looking at $69.99 for the long johns and a little over a hundred for the undershirt. If you need to spend less money, you can't go wrong with the Duofold. It all depends on how cold you plan on riding as to what's most appropriate. Heated vest/gloves are always nice too. Also, check out the Rukka stuff.

i think the bionic armor is great for the road. I use it off road with my snowmobile and like how it doesn't move around. I really wonder about some of the more loose fitting jackets and jeans. I found a nice tourmaster waterproof jacket. Think I will take the armor out of it and use the bionic stuff under it.

just a update. purchased the tourmaster XL, pulled out the back and shoulder pads, elbow pads. Using my bionic body armor under the coat. The jacket catches some wind at speed which I think is a byproduct of anything but tight fitting leather. The waterproof protection was nice today and jacket vents well with wind zippers that are held open with Velcro. The larger shoulder armor does cause some problems with turning your helmet when trying to look deeply over your shoulder. I am using icon field armor knee and shin guards along with icon elbow and forearm armor under the jacket and my jeans. Its all working out really well. The down side is suiting up takes a few minutes longer but I have much more confidence in the protection staying in place when I need it.
