I'm looking to increase the power on my 14 but not cost me an arm and leg in doing so. I have already put a PC-5 on and getting ready to buy Brock's 4 into 1 exhaust.

Please help me decied on something that is not going to waste my money and that is best for my 14.

Basics are pipe, power commander, filter. Velocity Stacks if you want to relocate some hp.

Hard core = Heads, cams, pistons, big bore or turbo.

Don't forget Gearing. I know it's NOT "Power" but sure would be the best cheapest way to get a massive eye opener.

Keep an eye on your oil level for peak performance. And no, not under or overfilled. Wink-Wink!


Can't get any cheaper than a quart of oil.

I'll bite, not under and not over, hmmmm so your not talking parasitic loss in the crank case from proper oil levels. Ok, oil additive ? quart eh,,,, not 500mm. Alright I give, which one makes the most POWER, or was this a swing and a miss ? Do tell.

Manual doesn't state hot or cold.Only that it's checked after sitting a while.Vertical.Perpendicular.Flat surface.Equal height front to back.Level.At the balance point.Anywhere from just at or below the upper line,and anywhere at or above the lower line.BETWEEN...not HALF-WAY.(which is fine as well) .

And for all those worried about metal particles in your oil....and I quote..."Not only do dirt and METAL PARTICLES collect in the oil,but the oil itself loses it's lubricative quality if used too long"....owner's manual...pg 112.

Roman, let me know more about the gearing! I have the stock gearing in the front and the rear. What do you recommend?

There is a window there. It says, "do not fill past" you read your manual first think is desquidefying oneself. You fill past window, who's fault is that you screaming hydraulic lock the crankcase.

Hub I am really trying to get this one. So, what you are saying is to change your oil more often than not. Correct ?

You must admit your above thread could have gone many directions. I was thinking the Zero weight oil thing to make more HP may have been one direction you may have been going, but I know that's not your stick. So,,,,,, what are you really saying ? You like new oil ? slipp- E

Roman, let me know more about the gearing! I have the stock gearing in the front and the rear. What do you recommend?

Beast =

Cheapest way is to go down one in the front, up two in the back this will give you the beloved 16F/43R and then get ready for a wake up call. New bike in a dozen different ways.

Or just up four in the back. 17F/45. This method requires a New longer chain.


It would be wise to take baby steps with this one and try -1 in the front first and then make your opinion. Lots of info all over this site on gearing. It's a really big subject and it's not for every one. More depends on what you want to do with Your bike. Lots of Fun that much is for sure.

Place bubble closer to the piston undersidesays watch the bouncing ball bubble her up some; [more] push is a closer bubble to push the piston back up being the least resistance in the opposite direction so the bubble pushes stronger we windmill the crank [more].


Ringing out it's poor little neck every time out sort of points the way something is not right. I needed to call 119; Huston, we have a problem! Shhhhhhhhhyiminnysay nothing!

I'm gumming my nose at the AMA for not getting it right. Points are politics and I've been there. So, every point counts. I cheated once and learned my lesson. Instead, I started to 360° other bikes for points so we were all even up on the same page. Well, as much as I could find externally [was enough] to send the gum on said pee know key-0-pointing the way.

jbzx14 - How is this bike used mainly? Is it mostly a commuter? Only for weekend twisties? Sport-touring? Is MPG a factor? What's already been said is pretty much given - gearing, tire pressure, PC, full exhaust to drop weight & improve HP, etc. Depending on money, believe it or not, wheels like BST's or Marchesini's will also make a definitive difference as the same amount of power now has to move something that weighs even less. Your own weight loss can also improve performance as well. Anything beyond this, you're looking at what Romans said - cams, pistons, big-bore kits, etc. and then the turbo kits. I've never ridden a turbo sportbike before, but I'd imagine MPG would suck in a major way and you'd really have to take it easy on the throttle so you don't fly off. ::8^)::
