Hi from Oz
09/18/24 4:20 PM

Hello to all in ZX land. Just joined the forum. I bought an 06 model couple of months ago. Coming off a Suzuki gsx 1400. Absolutely love the zx. So we'll see how we go. Great to be a member, thanks. Nic.

Welcome Nic! Ahhhhh beautiful bike. ...reminds me of my now destroyed 08 Midnight Sapphire Blue. I had the Tech Spec tank grips on that bike like yours. I have a new Gen2 now with under 400 miles and love it but I really, really miss my old bike. Enjoy the excitement and check in as much as you can. There's a real wealth of info here.

Thanks Rook, yes mate, the blue sparkle in the black paint is awesome isn't it. This bike has a lot of chips in the paint, the front fender had a lot, so much so that I took it off and painted it black, then a dusting of blue flake, then 8 coats of clear, as expected, I overdid the flake but it's not a drama, it looks great when the sun's on it but when it's not the fender does look a tad blue now.
I've been lurking around here since I got the bike. So far I've put new pads on the front, the front brake improved quite a lot with that. I put a michi road 6 on the front to match the one on the rear. I've put new coolant in. Fun n games with the fairings for the first time although I think I have it sussed now. Not such a big deal once you have done it and figured out the order of things. Your tutorials have been great so thanks on my behalf for that.
I almost bought a gen 2, I really want the green sparkle one, what's that, around 2016? but in the end this was much cheaper and I thought I'd go with this one to start off. I'd ridden 3 gen ones before and knew I wanted one. If I live long enough I may just go the gen 2 green one day but they are rare over here. Cheers, Nic.

From one Aussie to another, welcome mate.
Though this site has slowed down from the halcyon days, the legends here are still phenomenally knowledgable.
Enjoy your new bike.
