My butt is looking forward to the seat!
Now if that ebay seller can make it right and send my Givi luggage for free when he stipulates it in his ad, it's going to be the best of both worlds!

Just received the seat!
Thanks mate!
*If it's any consolation on the shipping,it got caught by customs for 36$ so where pretty much even there. lol

Just by looking at it you can tell it's going to be a hell of a lot more comfy than the original!

One thing though, there's a big gap between the bottom of the seat and the bike.
By comparing the seat pans, it looks like I would need to cut the rubbers where the seat sits on the frame?
Anyone did this before?
GRN14, I'm sure you know about this?

big gap ? front or rear?
I had a little in the rear but when sitting on it, or a strapped bag it was flat to the bike ?
make sure its on straight and clipped in the little catches in front the front .
Maybe my rubbers are bigger than yours up north LOL
Glad it arrived safe and sound

LOL Actualy, it's a US bike (Monster) so there "US specs" rubbers.

Yea, I'm sure when I sit on it it won't show, but I'm thinking... maybe my butt is smaller than yours?
Anyway, no biggy, I'll see what others are saying, it's the back yes...

Okay...there ARE a few tricks you can do to pull that rear part down closer. It's a Connie seat...'slightly' different at the rear there.1)..you can remove the rear bumpers on the sides and very tail.2)the latch mechanism...you CAN(be patient...I actually did this and it will work)...remove carefully that rear hook from the seat pan.Now....carefully take a hammer...flatten that hook out straight(on the cement or floor...whatever)Now....CAREFULLY....rebend that hook..this time...you want the bend to be DOWN farther on the body of it(this raises the eye portion). When your seat is factory installed, the hook rides below the latch when it's on there. It may pull up against the latch under there, but there's still "slack" in the hook eye.You are removing that slack and forcing the hook to always stay tight against the latch.Changing the depth of the eye will effectively do that, and the seat will be pulled down closer.Okay....NOW...take a dremel....grind off the forward plastic "stop" ridge on the hook attachment point on the seat pan. That square area where the hook goes.Now.....check where the hole is on the newly shaped hook.Okay...You want that hook to drop right where it was originally.Since you've now rebent it,that hole is gonna be farther "up"(forward)on the squarish mount point. The removing of the 'front' ridge there will allow you to reposition the hook,a tad bit more forward.Remeber..you need to have the hooking part going back down where it was originally so the latch will catch it just as before. You may need to slightly bend the hook forward or backward,so it will slide into the latch correctly.Doing this will effectively pull the rear portion down.It MAY NOT clasp as the stock seat latch did.You MAY have to lightly but firmly 'bump' the rear part down when you put the seat back on to get the latch to click home. You may have to do this EVERYTIME you reinstall your seat. But it won't hurt anything. You'll hear and see it click home...your rear portion will be snugged up against the fairing work there. It'll look fine. But like I said...the design of the rear pillion IS different with the Connie seat,so it may still have a slight gap right there.

Let me say this right here....BE CAREFUL about installing your seat now with the shorter clearance going on.You do NOT want the seat pan at the center line pushing down hard against that side fairing.Look under your seat there,on either side. Those screws and that tab that connects the front of the rear side fairings on there.Pushing on those(like when you bump the seat into place)could possibly snap that tab at the screw under there.Just be mindful of that.It should be just fine.Just give it a couple of trys, and see how much the pan is touching that area as you reinstall the seat. You shouldn't have any problems if your pan is modded correctly.

You can also do this to help bring it down closer....I did....it will work. You remove the seat.Get a heating torch.DO NOT GO KOO KOO WITH YOU APPLICATION OF HEAT...especially staying in ONE SPOT.Keep a good distance from the underside pan,but heat the rear portion like about a little over HALFWAY back on the pan.Now...Go ahead...with a good grip or whatever,BEND THE SEAT PAN (DO NOT BEND SO IT CREASES OR ANYTHING).But bend that rear part down and hold it.Till she cools off. Then install.See how that brings the rear down some.If not enough..repeat.USE CAUTION WHEN HEATING...you do not want the vinyl on the seat sides melting.Just be careful...Heat till she's pliable, then bend and hold till she cools down. This and the latch mod should give you a really nice looking seat/fairing interface.

WoW!! lot's of good info there!
Thanks a bunch GRN!

I'll start off by removing the rubbers and see how that goes...
I don't think I'll go as far as putting a torch to it, somehow I don't see that ending to good.

The torch...it's very easy really.Just watch what yer doin...you know. You're only softening the pan under there, not trying to melt it.Keep the torch on a low flame, and give it a decent space between the flame and pan. It'll be easy.Just go slowly back and forth under the center of the pan where you're gonna bend it.Heat it up nicely, and bend and hold till she cools.Try the fitment again....you'll see if you bent it far enough or if it needs more.Do the latch thing fist though. That's gonna give you your best initial modding. The removing of the bumpers only WILL NOT GET YOU THE RESULTS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR..you need to do the latch/hook deal AND possibly the pan fry.(I would suggest doing the fry along with the hook thing). But you may not really need to bend your pan just a bit.You just have to see if the reshape of the hook will pull it down like you want it.You MAY have to redrill the hook bolt hole,or elongate it...I can't remember just now if I did or not.Maybe.No biggie...you'll figure that part out I'm sure.Yes...I think I had to cut the rearmost square ridge of that hook mounting area as well, and cut a space to slide the bolt in there.Petty sure. It's easy.Takes just a few minutes.Just go slow and make sure you're not overdoing it with your cutting. You want that bolt to be able to be secure under there, not pulling out.The stock seat has a welded plate on the bolt...so I think you may be able to reuse that deal and slide er in that channel. You'll see what I mean when ya get to doing it.

Removing the bumpers at the seat midpoint there, that will help as well with the lowering.(not the round ones...the rectangle ones on the sides).

Alright, will give it a shot then!
Remove rubbers, bend the tab/hook and if still more is required heat it up!
Might hold down for this when I store the bike for the winter though.(soon)
I have a temporary fix for now.. since this seat will mostly see 2 up, if my butt's not big enough, I'm sure my wife's will be.

here ya go....That first step...that's the pan where the bolt/plate is attached...that plastic square.(looking at it while holding the pan towards you)

*****Install a star washer on the bolt before sliding back in.It will snug up to the plastic above the plate. Then install another star washer on the bolt before putting the nut back on.(sitting on top of the hook piece).
