Best Sport Touring Tire?
06/12/13 5:13 PM

I know this has been asked a million times and there are a million opinions, but who has had good luck with wear on tires used for sport touring purposes. My tires always have 1/4" chicken strips on them, and I only push the bike to 70% of it's abilities in the corners (90% of mine). Read good info on the Avon's, anyone else?? Also, where's the best place to buy online? Been scoping out eBay.....

Thanks,

Busa

Pirelli Angel ST (now GT's) for me. Going on like my 4th set. Easily get 8-9000 Miles (14,000Km) a set. They grip well, handle wet and rain well, and have a rounder profile which helps with turn in. And the don't cost an arm an a leg.

There's other Brands I'd like to try but when it comes time to order I always come back to these. The price point also helps.

Curious to see what others recommend. May try something else after my next set of GT's

Angel GT saw em onm Dave's and Beasts bike, amazingly cool tred pattern. I picked up Micherlin Road 3's and man, they are sticky. When I put them on I'll do a write up!

Been running Michelin PRIIs for a while but I might try those Pirelli Angels one of these days.

I went with the Pilot Road 3's. 190/55 on back, $365 for both mounted and balanced "on bike". I thought that was a pretty sweet deal!

should last a long time from what I heard about the Road 2. That is a very cool tread design on both of those tires. I'll prolly go to one of those if I can't weasel in on that Angel GT deal that expired last week.

Tell us your impression of the PR3's , when you get a chance. I have about 8k on my front Q2 and 5k on my rear Q2 ( 200/50 ), with plenty left. I like my Q2's and will probably go with Q3's but I am curious about the more Sport Touring type of tire especially in the rain.

After running Michelin PR2's on my bikes for the past several years, I've switched to the newer PR3's. Both tires offer great handling wet or dry.

Today I had PR3's (190 X 55) mounted on the ZX14R. The OEM Metzeler M5 rear lasted only 3,000 miles so I was reluctant to try Pilot Power 3's as I was concerned they might get similar mileage. With PR2's I normally got 4,500 on the rear, and I expect similar mileage from the PR3's.

Picking the right tire (PR3's) is easy .... picking the right bike for tomorrow's 300 mile mountain ride ... not so easy

PR3's X 3 ...

You are correct sir, there are 55's on the ZX14R.

I put 300 miles on the Triumph Sprint's new PR3's today (180 X 55)... Tom
