I am actually getting a 2011 z1000 in all black. The new Ninja 1000 is actually a z1000sx. It's just a completely fared z1000 underneath with a few minor changes. I am keeping the ZX-14, so it made less sense to get the Ninja 1000 over the z1000. I currently have a 2003 Honda 919 I ride around town. I love the naked sport bikes. They are true hooligan machines and a blast to thrash on. The z1000 will be replacing my 919.
I think the Ninja 1000 is an awesome machine and will definitely court riders from several model/types. It would be a great step up from a VFR 750/800 in the liter sized Sport Touring category. Makes perfect sense for guys coming from nakeds or standards that find they want more wind protection, don't want to sacrifice torque and power, don't want to have to wind up a motor to 10k to have fun and be bent over in a super sport seating position of the true liter class super bikes. Would be a great alternative to a busa or zx-14 if you wanted a lighter more nimble package. Plenty of reasons to consider this bike.
One thing concerns me however. The 2010/2011 z1000 is geared very low. That is to say, I have read/heard several people say it is running at quite high RPMs at freeway speeds. Perhaps the Ninja 1000 has been geared different? I don't know? For sport touring duty a sprocket swap may be in order to get the RPMs down and mileage up. Anyone know the gearing specs compared to the z1000?

I got that link from kawasaki on facebook and it looks good but I already have givi bags on the 14 and I'm not interested in giving up any horsepower. Thats why I bought the ninja instead of the concours. The ninja had more power and was 7k less, so I figured for 7 grand I could put some bags on for that price.

Hardcore Big Bore here... Chow, dog barks... Can't take the power you rather peak on that pile when big dog is going to eat that shitskeybob dog bone Kawee is fronting you. We have cash waiting for, "Ultra Dog Bite."

Yeah, I love that power-everywhere 14, and, since it's payed for, might as well keep it; I'm game for the hooligan bike scene too, and, really like the Z1000 also. I'm very interested in the GIVI bags on your 14, could you post a few pics here of it as I'm hoping to make this mod before year ends.

heres a few pictures I took yesterday, just as well it snowed last night. The top case is an E-52 with the V-35 side bags. You will need the mounts for the V-35 bags and to mount the top case I would suggest twisted throttle for the adapter plate and mount. My spouse finds it comfortable other than the seat, which should be a corbin so that I have the option of using the backrest. Take care.
