headlight distance
04/14/13 6:43 AM

Does anybody know how far off the ground my lights should be, I am attempting to adjust my headlights, I was turning bolts and now my lights are all out of wack, I am going to do it by the book this time, but the problem is that it doesnt say how far from the ground the lights should be, only how far the hi beam lights should be. Thanks in advance for the help.

[quote]?ON high beam, the brightest points should be slightly below horizontal with the motorcycle on its wheels and the rider seated. Adjust the headlight to the proper an- gle according to local regulations.
?For US model, the proper angle is 0.4 degrees below horizontal. This is 50 mm (2 in.) drop at 7.6 m (25 ft) measured from the center of the headlight with the motorcycle on its wheels and the rider seated.
50 mm (2 in.) [A]
Center of Brightest Spot [B] 7.6 m (25 ft) [C]
Low Beam [D]
Height of Headlight Center [E] High Beam [F]/quote]

You're gonna get a different pattern of illumination with those HID's....The factory(US) settings MAY be very blinding to oncoming cars(at night)....you'll have to experiment after getting your base settings.Remember...these projection headlamps focus the brightest spot directly at whatever they're aimed at.HID's can then become very distracting and blinding for oncoming cages if not compensated for.Even during daylight.
