Is Marquez unbeatable?
03/06/15 8:20 AM

You think Lorenzo or my man Rossi can out point him this year to win?

At his age, Marquez is probably still improving, as hard as that is to believe! It was great to see Rossi get the one win last year. Hopefully at 36, he still has enough to pull it off and wins the championship again after several years of not.

Lorenzo might have a chance, with the new seamless transmission, it will help him,
BUT I have seen Marquez come back from 10th place MANY times and win the race,
this is MOTO GP, not so common to do as in AMA or WSB ....

Also I have seen him build substantial leeds many times, and who knows if he was
giving it 100% or playing it a LITTLE safe ?

Im rooting for Marquez, hope he wins again ! we will see ...

Those that know him say that Rossi is the only veteran who successfully changed his riding style to compete with Marquez. I think the old fox has some trick yet to play. Also Marquez has been lucky so far that when he's crashed, and he's had some big ones, he hasn't gotten hurt....yet.It will be interesting to see how much further everyone is willing to push to keep the young Marquez at bay.

I think the only way Marquez is defeated is if he misses a number of races due to injury. I would love to see Rossi win several races and the title but I just don't think it will happen.

I seem to sense some resentment towards Marquez in the motorcycle world (Not Here)

And I think Rossi is still the fan favorite, am I right on this ?

If so, why ? I think its great that a young kid is doing so good .....

Rossi and Hayden are probably the two most Personable riders out there, two bad Hayden's not in the top 5 ,Lorenzo reminds me of Tom cruise.he might be great but isn't as marketable as a rossi

Mark is the Man at the moment.

Put Hayden on a real bike and he could get some podiums. He sold out to Ducati, and collected checks while being discredited as a rider.
I would like to see Stoner VS Mark on equal bikes. That would be a race.

Whorehay is losing his edge, along with Dani and Val.
Some newer young stuff are going to blow some minds this year. Hang out and see.

Met Hayden one time, one of the nicest guys I have ever met, along with Eric Bostrom ...

RE: Is Marquez unbeatable?

I'm sort of with sarg on this one. I plugged in at about 1999, saw this kid and said I'm going to pick this one for the win. Same thing happened when I picked Hamilton the first time I saw him. Here are my 2 and 4 wheel favorites.

Who was before Hamilton? Kimi the Ice Man. First time I sat in his car and saw how smooth he was, I was sold. I drop Kimi for Hamilton, Kimi wins F1 the next year. Okay, so Kimi is gone and Hami has hammered the field since.

Here is Rossi and I want him to just take a record away from Ago so Marc can take the record away from Rossi. Marc is a no brainer but I sure do like Pol as doing something. And that means one brother is going to push the other brother. This is the battle in my head about those two... As if Marc is long gone. I have no clue about this year's outcome, but I'd be a fool to let Rossi loose and say he's all washed up when Kimi came back and took out the up and comer. That's where my picks are at and I backup their history is all I can go on.

Nickey is fighting the needle and that's just my opinion. He's beat up hand wise or something? Does it matter? As far as if I were to look at the whole package? It's more the surgeries and their residual factor vs performance needed to sustain my sponsors seeing their name up at the podium. Pain thru the laps and were are we with a younger rider? Well for on, less surgeries done = Less Residuals to fight off. Nickey had his one gp. He does not have to prove anything. Too late to break Rossi's run. Why stick around? Fans are fickle.

No reason Rossi and Nick can't keep the needle in the arm and stick around. That stuff is hard to walk away from. Go ask them.

Hopefully Michelin will help Rossi gain an advantage, nobody wants to see Marq win every race by twenty seconds.

You'll find that there is common ground among people who are jaded by being vastly outperformed by a younger individual with much less experience. They don't want to see it happen on a grander scale either. It's a reminder of their place at the bottom.

Agree. Marquez may end up being one of the greatest ever if he can maintain his current dominance..........But it'd be great to see Rossi win at least one more championship. I think I'll go to INdianapolis this August and see it live for the first time.

Hi.
I'm so happy to have seen Vale on the top place podium :-)
Once again Marquez started a real tough comeback after his first corner's mistake.
BUT once again without any regard of other drivers, which is NOT okay.
Last seasons Marquez got some penalties for his way of driving, what happens now?
I guess nothing happens - even he deserves a penalty for crashing the Aprilia of Bautista..!
Marquez is beatable, we could see this at the end of last season.
But after all - he's a real great rider on the MotoGP-bike.

I liked Rossi's quote, " then I see my pitboard that Marc is coming, so I say "fuck"...

Rossi is one of the only guys who will actually talk to and answer questions to the press in any detail.
Marc's plowing through the field was fun to watch. Passing 2 or 3 bikes in the same corner, although I guess he got a little too close to Bautista, ripped his brake line off. Going to be an iteresting season.

Yes, Marc's aggressive style and willingness to pass anyone he can, whenever he can, by whatever means he can makes for great races, if somewhat bad sportsmanship But it's racing on the highest level. That kinda aggressive riding attracts interest

Marquez reminds me of a young Tyson knocking every opponent out in record time. Let's hope Rossi and the Ducati boys can give Marquez hell.

Those Ducatis bikes are quick down the straights. Geez!!

But I a going with Rossi for the win this year. With this opening performance, He's confident and off to a great start

Marquez's talent is unquestionable but I think the red mist may have come down when he got shunted out on the first corner and his ultra competitive style went to a new level. I say competitive and not aggressive 'cos thats all it is IMO. He wants to win races, as everyone on the grid does but he's not going out there with total disregard other riders. This level of racing is as high as it gets. Leaving only the slightest of gaps is like waving riders's like Marquez, Rossi, Lorenzo through. Scott Redding said in a post race interview that he'd been told about braking too late but then Marquez passed him and another rider in one move braking into a corner! I'm an unashamed Rossi fan and would absolutely love him to win another title and I think he has as good a chance this year as he has had for a while. As has been said, he's changed his style and is not scared of taking the fight straight to Marquez's door, just as he did with Stoner a few years back. Remember his battle with Stoner at Laguna and that pass at the corkscrew! With the possibility of Pedrosa being out with surgery for a few races I wonder what the chances are of Stoner filling his seat for the duration? Now that would be an exiting combination!! JMO

Rossi gettin on the podium with the front tire damage is quite an impressive feat . I still would not count out Rossi winning this year but it'll be tough.

He is currently still the points leader. Next race should be a better battle. Cota has never been a good track for Rossi

In the words of Kenny Roberts, "talent like this comes around every 20-25 years or so"
(Marquez)

I have been saying the last few years that Rossi is a third place rider, maybe Im wrong,
but thats what I think ... We will see ....

Marquez seems willing to push it to the absolute limit; to take the risk and push his traction for the absolute edge. And his risk taking usually pays off and seldom bites him in the ass
