Exhaust
05/17/12 5:52 PM

I am confused at to what exhaust I want to get for my bike. The only exhaust i have found that i like is the voodoo exhaust or ones similar to it. My only fear is that if i get something without a baffle or i go with one of the shorty exhausts it will mess something up in the motor. I know i dont wnat an exhaust that goes up to the passenger peg as my wife likes to not pay attention and rest her feet on the mufflers. Any help would be great.

Buy for horsepower, not noise. Brock's CT series are probably best. Muzzy is nice too. Yoshimura is good also.

I agree about buying for performance but i also dont like any of the sound clip i have heard for many brands of exhaust. im sure no matter what i went with would sound way better than youtube, but i dont wanna feel as though i wasted my money if i dont like the way it sounds

A 'shorty' won't do anything to harm your motor....but it will be 'barking'...as in.....sharp decibels on your ears.I don't know IF you CAN find one that doesn't have the passengerpeg mounting point just above the muffler.Maybe an Alienhead or something real short like that...but anything even resembling a stock can length,it's most likey they're gonna be using that stock mounting bracket on there...including the peg config.Even a 'high mount' is gonna situate that passenger peg right on top of the muffler.I found my CT single was at first TOO barking for me.BUT...I ordered a sound reducer insert...it REALLY helped to take the edge off the sound....yet still had the deep growl.I like it very much now.If I wanted to take a passenger...missing the pegs and hitting the can would at least be minimized...to ONE pipe!!LOL!

I have a ceramic coated brocks alienhead and after hours of riding you can touch the can and it is barely warm to the touch so it would not burn her or her shoes. You can also get the streetmeg in coated which is a little quieter than the alienhead but I love the sound of my alienhead. People told me the alienhead was too loud but everyone I ride with says it is quieter than my two brothers slip ons were. You can also go with a carbon fiber exhaust and they don't get hot enough to burn her or her shoes either.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still kinda undecided on hat I want to do. I like the voodoo exhaust for the fact that it ends before it even reaches the led but I dont know that I wanna spend 600 bucks on slip on mufflers. I guess I will keep looking and make my decision. I know I dot want to spend $1000 on exhaust either. So maybe I will fix something I like for a decent price when I am able to afford exhaust.

Dont waste a dollar on a vodoo exhaust honestly if you are going to do that just go to autozone and purchase a tip to mount on lol. You lose all your back pressure by putting on those little tips talk about losing HP. Go with Brocks Yoshi Muzzy or even Vance Hines

I purchased the Brock's ShortMeg and love it..yes its a bit loud (granted I pulled the baffle out and had it dyno tuned for it) but worth every penny. Spent around $800 for the full system.
